Disney mug of the month: Books before Beasts

March 25, 2021 by Becky 4 Comments

Beauty and the Beast is definitely one of my favorite Disney movies of all time. It makes sense – Belle is a bit odd, like me. She loves books and reading (I’m a librarian) and she craves adventure. Add in the fun songs and great characters and it’s hard to argue that it isn’t one of Disney’s best.

As a result I have quite a number of Beauty and the Beast items, including several mugs (such as Belle’s Books, Chip, Mrs. Potts, and Belle’s Public Library). The one I have this month is another books reference and I really love it! It was given to me as a Christmas gift by my co-worker, so since it’s from another library nerd it’s even more special.

It says “Books before Beasts,” which is the perfect phrase and just cracks me up. It kind of reminds me of that meme that you’ve probably seen around, that says something like “when other girls watched Beauty and the Beast they wanted the prince, but I wanted the library.” Accurate! All those books and that big library in the film is just incredible. Books before beasts any day!

What’s in my mug: I’ve been switching it up a bit from the typical coffee and drinking more tea lately. In general I’m more of a coffee in the morning person, and then tea in the afternoon if I feel like I need a little extra caffeine. I like really flavorful teas and typically favor black teas – earl grey is a favorite. Lately though I have a spiced chai that I am loving. It feels perfect for this time of year!

What I’m currently reading: Although I have a number of Beauty and the Beast related books, right now I’m reading The Disney Book by Jim Fanning. It’s this month’s pick for the Disney in your Day book club. It’s a really nice hard cover book that details all things Disney. It’s a large, gorgeous, hardcover book that’s definitely worth the price. It has timelines, information about a number of films and photos, concept art, and more from the Disney archives. Later in the book it goes into some of the theme park stuff too. As a big Disney nerd I think it’s super interesting and I can’t wait to talk about it with the book club!

What mug are you using right now? And what are you currently reading?

Such a cute mug and I love your Disney book collection to go with it! I totally agree with wanting a library. I’m still trying to figure out how to make that happen in my house. It’s fun to take a break from coffee and shake up your hot beverages. I have been loving using my earl grey and chai teas to make a london fog or chai latte lately!

Oooh a chai latte sounds so delightful. I’ve created a “mini library” in my house. On our downstairs floor we have the living room, kitchen, dining room, and one additional room. One whole wall of that room is bookshelves and books so we call it the “library”.
