March 2026 tournament: Muppets

This might actually be the hardest tournament I’ve hosted on the blog. I feel that way about a lot of the options (so many great villains! And how can you choose a favorite Disney song?). But to vote on the best Muppet? This is going to be a real challenge!

I’ve been hosting a Disney-themed tournament in the month of March on my blog for over 10 years now. I’ve thought about repeating some themes or ideas – many were a long time ago, and there are new additions that could compete! But I keep coming up with new ideas, so we have yet another new one this year.

In case you’re wondering, here is the Disney in your Day tournament “Hall of Fame” from past years:

2015: Favorite attraction – Haunted Mansion
2016: Favorite Disney food – Dole Whip
2017: Best animated Disney movie – The Lion King
2018: Favorite Disney song – Under the Sea
2019: Best Disney villain – Hades
2020: Best Pixar movie – Toy Story
2021: Favorite Disney sidekick – The Genie
2022: Favorite Disney+ TV Show – The Mandalorian
2023: Favorite Star Wars character – Obi-Wan Kenobi
2024: Favorite Marvel superhero – Captain America
2025: Favorite Disney Villain sidekick – Kronk

This year we’ll be voting to see who will be the ultimate champion in the category of Muppets.

I’ve always loved the Muppets, but I really feel like this might be the year for them to make their big comeback. The 2011 movie with Jason Segal and Amy Adams is one of my favorite movies ever. I was hoping that would be the big Muppet moment, but it was too short-lived.

Now, though – we got a new episode of The Muppet Show with guest star Sabrina Carpenter which has been a big success, both critically and commercially. Could that mean Disney will create more episodes? And although we may have lost Muppet Vision 3D, at least the Muppets will be taking over Rock n Roller Coaster. Perhaps 2026 is their year!

There were plenty of Muppets to choose from for this tournament, and I didn’t even have to go too obscure. I think most people who enjoy the Muppets will be familiar with a majority of the ones here. There are lots who didn’t make the cut, sadly! Below I’ve provided some info and reminders about these Muppets in case you can’t identify them all. If you’re still not familiar with all of them, I encourage you to vote anyway!

• Kermit the Frog – if you don’t know Kermit, I don’t know what to tell you.
• Beauregard – the janitor at the Muppet Theater.
• Janice – guitar & vocals for the Electric Mayhem – for sure!
• Stadler and Waldorf – I thought about separating these hecklers for the tournament, but they really thrive together.
• Rizzo the Rat – a street-smart rat and friend to Gonzo.
• Robin – Kermit’s nephew.
• Animal – the Electric Mayhem’s enthusiastic drummer.
• Sweetums – a loveable monster who was part o the original Muppet Show, several movies, and made an appearance in Muppet Vision 3D.

• Fozzie Bear – the Muppets’ resident comedian.
• Annie Sue – primarily in the original run of the Muppets Show. Although she looked up to Miss Piggy, it turns out Miss Piggy did not like having another young, talented pig around.
• Beaker – Dr. Bunsen’s assistant. Meep!
• Zoot – Sax player for the Electric Mayhem.
• Swedish Chef – Bork bork bork!
• Dr. Strangepork – primarily in Pigs in Space, where he is the scientist onboard the Swinetrek ship.
• Rowlf – a dog who plays the piano.
• Uncle Deadly – seen in the original show as “The Phantom of the Muppet Show,” he’s also made more recent appearances in TV and movies.

• Miss Piggy – she needs no introduction.
• Crazy Harry – usually blowing something up.
• Dr. Teeth – the head of Electric Mayhem, he’s on keyboard and vocals.
• Bobo – First appearing on Muppets Tonight, he’s often a security guard or villain sidekick.
• Sam the Eagle – the most patriotic of all Muppets.
• Lew Zealand – he’s the one with the boomerang fish.
• Pepe the Prawn – he’s not a shrimp, he’s a king prawn, okay?
• Link Hogthrob – played a big role in Pigs in Space, but has made other side appearances as well.

• Gonzo – a daredevil stunt performer who is definitely unique.
• Bean Bunny – a cute little bunny who played a major role in Muppet Vision 3D and a small part in A Muppet Christmas Carol.
• Dr. Bunsen Honeydew – the scientist of the Muppets, where he works in Muppet Labs.
• Floyd Pepper – the bass player of The Electric Mayhem.
• Walter – made his debut in The Muppets (2011 film), where he’s brother to Jason Segal’s character and Kermit’s #1 fan.
• Lips – the trumpet player for the Electric Mayhem.
• Scooter – the nerdy stage manager of the Muppet Theater (and nephew of the owner).
• Camilla – a chicken, and the love of Gonzo’s life.

And the voting begins!
