We are now on to round 4, which means we now have your final 4 Star Wars characters!
We’re down to one from the light side, one from the dark side, one droid, and one from our “other” category. If I had to guess from the beginning, most of these would probably have been my predictions for the top 4 (even if not all were my personal top choices!).
Our victor from the Light Side is Obi-Wan Kenobi. I think he’s a great character, though this one does surprise me a little… I thought there might be more appeal for Princess Leia, Luke, or even Han Solo. Obi-Wan has an important role to play in the original trilogy and is a huge part of the prequels. He also has his own Disney+ show now which I quite enjoyed. Ewan McGregor is great at playing Obi-Wan too, in my opinion, so I think that helps.
But how will he fare against our top pick from the Dark Side – Darth Vader? This one does not surprise me. Darth Vader is the most iconic villain in the Star Wars franchise and anyone who grew up watching those films immediately thinks of him as the main villain. In fact, I’d argue he’s one of the most iconic villains in cinema of all time. He absolutely destroyed Emperor Palpatine (in the bracket, I mean…). Between the blog and Instagram poor Palpatine only got 2 votes. He’s definitely evil, but Darth Vader just has something about him.
And don’t underestimate those droids, because R2-D2 is here to represent! I am also not surprised here, as I figured R2-D2 would be the clear favorite to win the droid bracket. My own vote went to BB-8 this past round, though it would be hard for me to pick my favorite droid between IG-11 and C-3P0 (I’ve got a soft spot for him!). Artoo is just so darn likable though.
But can he beat out Grogu this round? It was really close between Grogu and his adopted dad, Mando, but our baby yoda reigned victorious. I love both characters, but I’m not totally sold on Mando’s almost-completely blind dedication to his cult… sorry, I mean the Children of the Watch. Some people might think Grogu is overrated at this point, but he’s still the cutest darn thing I’ve ever seen and he brings so much joy to the world. Plus, his character is getting interesting and we’re learning more of his backstory.
