Okay, the Disney in your Day fans have spoken – here are the Star Wars characters who have made it to round 3!
Some of the match-ups in this round were still runaways, with the result being pretty obvious, but most of them were actually extremely close. We had a few obvious results – as much as I really enjoy Moff Gideon as a villain, he just can’t compete with Darth Vader. And Emperor Palpatine completely crushed Count Dooku (who did not receive a single vote).
Some of the results were only a few votes apart, so they really could have gone either way. Luke and Yoda were close (in fact, Luke was winning on the blog poll but lost on Instagram). C-3PO and BB-8 were another that came down to just two votes between them.
There were some results that really shocked me too! Seeing Princess Leia lose to Obi-Wan Kenobi was not how I expected things to go. And I thought Luke might beat out Yoda, though I can understand why the voting went the way it did. I personally am a little sad to lose my favorite droids who remained (C-3PO and IG-11), but when all is said and I done I don’t necessarily see a droid winning the whole thing (though who knows?!)
Now that we’re down to the top 8 of Star Wars characters it’s only going to get more difficult. Many of our remaining characters are from the original trilogy, which doesn’t surprise me (though a lot of them, like Obi-Wan and Palpatine, also play major roles in later works). Of the more recent additions to the Star Wars universe, the Mandalorian is holding strong with Grogu and Mando left. From episodes 7,8, and 9, we have BB-8 representing.
Soon we will be left with one from the light side, one from the dark side, one droid, and one “other” character.
Some of these match-ups are so tough I don’t even know how I personally am going to vote! I’ve lost a number of my personal favorites already, but this match-up has the almost impossible choice between Grogu and Mando. It’s going to be a tough round!
