Starbucks has been making their “You are Here” mugs for a long time (though they have been renamed “Been There”), and of course for Disney fans it was big news when they started doing them for the Disney theme parks. Then last year we got a collection of Star Wars ones! I thought these were really fun because they are just like the mugs for real places but in the style of the fictional Star Wars planets/cities.
This year they released another round on May 4th, and I couldn’t resist the Batuu mug. Although it doesn’t appear in the films, Galaxy’s Edge is set on the planet of Batuu. One of my favorite things about Galaxy’s Edge is how immersive it feels. I try to get into the spirit of acting like I am really visiting Batuu and Black Spire Outpost while I’m there. So a “been there” style mug felt like the perfect choice.
Like others in this series they have a unique look to them, with a lot of icons representing the location done in a sketch style. Of course many of the more famous icons and characters who visit Batuu are on this mug – you can see Rey, Chewbacca, Kylo Ren, R2-D2, BB-8, and the Millennium Falcon. There are also some general Star Wars items as well such as the rebel and imperial logos.
But my favorite details are the ones that are unique to Galaxy’s Edge and Batuu. Perhaps my favorite detail is DJ R-3X, my favorite buddy spinning tunes over at Oga’s Cantina. You also have some other fun Batuu items like a few buildings, Black Spire Outpost character Vi, and of course the loth cat! I love that it says “Bright Suns” too, since that’s the greeting they use on Batuu.

What’s in my mug: My work has been very busy for the past few months, and in a few ways it’s catching up with me – one of those ways is the fact that I actually ran out of my fun, specialty Disney coffee! So I’ve had to have boring regular coffee (or a stop at Wawa in the mornings), but I have a packages from Expedition Roasters AND Joffrey’s arriving soon.
What I’m currently reading: For photo purposes this might be a bit of a cop-out since I already read and featured this book in a past mug of the month series, but it’s too perfect not to use with this mug. Of course the Traveler’s Guide to Batuu is the most appropriate book to be reading, especially since it’s written as an actual travel guide for Batuu as a real location. Just another fun way to get into the spirit of things!
What mug are you using right now? And what book are you currently reading?
