A look inside the Scent by Mickey subscription box:
Today I’m excited to share a new (or at least new to me!) Disney subscription box that’s fun and unique! It’s called Scent by Mickey, and it’s done by the Columbia Fragrance Co. They make all sorts of candles, fragrance sprays, and bath and body products. They’re not just limited to Disney so you can find other great stuff as well, but they do have their Disney inspired Magical Memories collection, as well as a special Scent by Mickey subscription box!
If you’ve been to Disney World you know that the smells around the theme park and resorts are special. It might sound silly but there are so many unique scents that we associate with Disney, and finding a way to recreate those smells at home is a great way to bring a little bit of the magic to your house when you can’t be at the parks.
What’s inside a Scent by Mickey box?
Every box comes with one candle, two fragrance products, and a special gift. Each month’s box has a different theme and I love the creativity. You can purchase previous boxes if there’s availability too – in the past they’ve done some fun themes like “Let’s Go Soarin,” “Flower and Garden Festival,” and “Haukuna Mouscato”.
The “Experience the Magic” box
I received the Experience the Magic box with full sized products. This one is all about Main Street USA and Mickey Mouse, so it felt very classic Disney to me. Right from opening the box – it came in a black box with red polka dot shipping tape, and the tissue paper inside was also red and white polka dot. If you know me, you might now I appreciate coordination so right from the start I was impressed with the attention to detail.
The candle I received in this box is the Main Street Bakery scent, and it smelled amazing. It smells a bit like pastries and cinnamon. I like the sleek black container as well – it’s very fitting with the overall theme. This is definitely one candle that I’ll be using right away.
I also received this adorable Mickey soap. The design is cute, it smells great, and it’s a good quality soap.
My last fragrance item was a fragrance spray in the popcorn scent. And the thing is, it really does smell like popcorn! I believe their fragrance sprays can be used as a room spray or a body spray (the label says can be used lightly on carpets, bed linens and other fabrics. Not for use on animals, but completely safe on people). Obviously with this one I’m not going to use it as a body spray… though I’m sure walking around smelling like popcorn would be more appealing than some scents people use! 😉 But I kind of thing it would be really fun to use it during my next Disney movie night. I sprayed a little in the air around my office and now I am seriously craving popcorn.
Finally, my bonus item was this cute Mickey keychain made by The Fanciful Mouse. I like this style of longer keychain because it makes it easier for me to pull out of my purse or backpack, which is always full of things. I like that it’s more subtle Disney as well. It’s also super soft and light – despite the marble pattern the cubes and made of rubber.
The cost of the box is really reasonable, starting at $27.75 for the “Scent by Minnie” box, which features trial size products, or $33.31 for the Scent by Mickey box of full size items. If you choose to subscribe rather than get a one-time box you also receive a 10% discount.
I also have a special discount for my blog readers! Just use the code DISNEYDAY5 for $5 off your order. This discount will cover an upgrade to a full-sized box or shipping for most orders. Limit one per person and first time box orders only.
Columbia Fragrance Co was also kind enough to offer a giveaway for Disney in your Day readers! You can win your own Scent by Mickey box – just head to the link below to enter!
If you’re not sure about a subscription box, go check out their other products as well. You can find lots of Disney inspired scents under their Magical Memories collection. After browsing for awhile I know I’m going to end up placing an order. Of course I have to try Citrus Smile, and Violet Lemonade sounds great too. They also have a number of non-Disney related products too. The Gatsby scent is very intriguing to me too.
My overall thoughts on Scent by Mickey
I am so pleased with this box! I may sign up for future boxes, or at least buy some individual products. I appreciate that they are items I can use that also have that touch of Disney magic. There are also a lot of Disney subscription boxes that feel more aimed at kids, so it’s nice to have something a bit more adult. The scents were great, everything was high quality, and I’m really glad I found Scent by Mickey!
