Take a look inside a Saratoga Springs deluxe studio room:
I’ve now stayed at Saratoga Springs resort twice (and the third time will be this October!). The first time we went we stayed in the Treehouse Villas, which was a really cool experience. But I did get to try out a “normal” room too, so I thought I would give you a peek inside that room!
Saratoga Springs is an all DVC resort (Disney Vacation Club, their timeshare), but you can reserve a room there just like at any resort on Disney property and pay with money instead of points. It does mean that the room options and the set-up are a little bit different from a standard Disney resort room. The DVC resorts are designed to be more of a “home away from home,” and so they have some extras that other resorts don’t have.
I had booked a preferred room from the Saratoga Springs deluxe studio category, which meant that we would be close to the main building/transportation. Saratoga Springs is really huge (there are actually 5 internal bus stops) so this was definitely worth the extra money/points.
We were given room 3712, which was a short walk from the lobby, restaurant, and buses. It also happened to be very close to the RunDisney race transportation, which was nice since we were there for Princess Weekend! One thing that is slightly different than most Disney deluxe resorts is that the rooms have exterior doors – in other words, you’re going directly from the outside into your room. You don’t go into one big building and down an inside hallway or anything like that.
It was actually pretty easy to walk around too – there are paths and bridges crossing all around the resort, so nothing was really as far as it seemed. We learned that if we got off 2 stops before “our” bus stop, we could walk a pretty short distance and save some time on the buses.
The room basics
All of the rooms have a balcony/patio. While we did have a balcony, it wasn’t the best view as we looked out over the parking lot. If you got a room facing a different direction though the resort is actually incredibly beautiful and you could have a great view.
When you first walked in the bathroom was on your right and the closets to the left. On the other side of where the bathroom was you had your small kitchenette area. Past that, there was a small bench and mirror on the wall, and then you got to your sleeping setup and the main area of the room.
In addition to the bed, there’s a couch which actually has a pull-down Murphy bed. There’s a coffee table here, and this was my favorite I’ve found at a Disney resort so far (I’m not sure if any of the others have this or have updated to have it). You could leave the coffee table as is, or you could extend it up! This was great for eating, since there’s no dining room or table to do that in the room.
Across from that, you have your standard dresser and TV. And yes, at least in this room this was actually a dresser and not a 5th pull-down sleeper like in many of the other resorts.
The other thing I really missed having in this room was a little table and chair. I sometimes do work while I’m down there or write blog posts, and it’s nice to have a place to use my laptop. While the coffee table would have worked pretty well if we weren’t using the second bed, there was no place to use it once that bed was down. Personally, I would much rather have a little chair and table or desk rather than the bench we had.
Beds
Like all DVC studios, there is one queen-sized bed and one queen-sized pull-down Murphy bed. Getting them all switched over to the pulldowns is so nice because they are much more comfortable than the pull-out couches. If you don’t need the second bed you can just leave it up and you have a nice little seating area.
We had to finagle a spot for the coffee table when the bed was down, so that was a little tricky as there was no really obvious place to put it, but we just barely slid it between the two beds.

Bathroom
The bathroom is a very standard setup – nothing divided like some of the resorts, and it had a shower/tub combo. I know many of the new refurbs are going the way of a full shower without a bathtub, but I really like having the tub (especially on race weekends!). I would think families with younger children might prefer a tub as well.
The sink area was outside of the bathroom itself, so you could have someone using the sink and getting ready while someone else was using the bathroom.
Kitchen area
As a DVC resort, you get a little bit more than the standard hotel room. In addition to a fridge and coffee machine, you also have a microwave, a toaster, and disposable plates, bowls, utensils, etc. It’s really nice having a microwave in your room at Disney if you want to take any leftovers for later!
Decor
The themeing of Saratoga Springs is mostly focused on horses, which isn’t surprising, but it’s not completely over the top. The rooms have some horse touches as well, and I actually think Disney could do more with this to tie in some of their Disney horses (Maximus, Angus, Phillipe, Bullseye, Horace Horsecollar – there’s actually a lot!).
There’s a really sweet picture of two horses when you pull down the murphy bed, and above the regular bed you have some simple Mickey-inspired, horse-related art. There’s also a some hooks by the door that are made to look like part of a stable, as is the coffee table. The colors were nice and the headboard on the bed itself was really pretty too.

Overall thoughts on Saratoga Springs deluxe studio
Overall the room was very nice and updated, and you definitely get all of the amenities and that feeling of being in a deluxe resort here… typically at a price that is a good bit lower than many of the other deluxe resorts. The biggest downside for me was the balcony view, or lack thereof. I normally love spending time on a balcony when I have one, but I really didn’t on this trip.
The rooms are bigger than a value or moderate (and even some of the other deluxes), and you can feel the difference. It was prettier than I thought and I actually liked our Saratoga Springs deluxe studio more than I expected to!
Needless to say, at a reasonable (for Disney deluxe resorts) price, usually available with DVC points, and walking distance to Disney Springs, I know I’ll be staying here again in the future.
