There was a (short) time when I hadn’t really purchased any new Disney mugs, and I didn’t actually have a new one to share every month. Well, fear not my friends, because between my last two trips and Christmas gifts, I now have quite a number to share coming up!
And the one I’m sharing today isn’t even one that I purchased at the parks, or one that was gifted to me. I actually got this mug by redeeming some of my Disney Movie Rewards points. I really loved the movie Elemental, and that meant that I wanted a mug representing the film. But I didn’t see any mugs on the ShopDisney website.
Where I did finally find an Elemental mug was on Disney Movie Rewards. If you’re not familiar, it’s a rewards program where you can earn points when you buy a Disney movie on DVD/blu-ray (or a digital copy), go to see movies in theaters and send them your ticket stub, etc. There’s also usually extra codes during the month on their social media accounts and that sort of thing.
I had made great use of my Disney Movie rewards points in the past by redeeming a ton of them for a tour of the Walt Disney Studios in California. I’m a little low on points these days, but when I saw they had an Elemental mug I did every “extra” thing I could find to earn some extra points – and I got enough in time!
This is definitely a fun mug… though it may not appear that way at first. At first glance it is mostly black. On one side it has the Elemental movie logo (It does also say “see the all-new movie,” which I don’t love because it won’t be new forever but oh well). The other side says “bring the heat.”
It’s one of those color-changing mugs where you can kinda actually see what will happen once you add hot water, but let’s just pretend it’s super magical! Because once a hot liquid is added to the mug, images will begin to appear. You’ll see Ember and Wade on one side, with brightly colored symbols and pictures representing the elements decorating the rest of the mug.
I personally love that they went with this fun type of mug because it makes so much sense – after all, Ember is literally heat, and Wade is water. Combine them to get hot water and that’s when the magic happens!
What’s in my mug: Coffee is keeping me going through the last month, as it seems like there is so much to do and so little time. I have some new flavors to try from Expedition Roasters, which makes Disney themed coffee. Right now I’m enjoying the Round Up S’mores one, which I’ve had before – but there are two other ones I bought which I haven’t tried yet!
What I’m currently reading: I usually have a few different books going on at one time, but I’ll highlight the audiobook I just finished: “Behind the Seams: my Life in Rhinestones,” by Dolly Parton. It’s part autobiography and part fashion history of what she wore through her life. The audiobook version was like an interview format, and I’m not sure what the book reads like. I do know the physical book has a lot of photographs, so I want to try and borrow it from my library so I can look at all of it. But just hearing her talk about clothing and fashion was neat. She is so unique and so Dolly in everything she does. She really is true to herself and that’s inspiring. It was a fun read!
What mug are you using right now? And what are you currently reading? I’d love to hear about it in the comments below!
