March tournament 2025 – Villains sidekicks, final round

It’s the final round of the villains sidekicks tournament, and only two remain…

While there were a couple of surprises along the way in how the voting went, I think we ended up with 2 decent choices for the best villain sidekick, though they are pretty different.

Alas, my personal favorites are no longer in the running. There were some tough decisions, but I think my favorites would have been the Hyenas, LeFou, Lucifer, and Sour Bill.

Kronk beat out the Hyenas, and while it wasn’t exactly “close,” the Hyenas did at least put up a decent showing. And Iago bested the Magic Mirror, which doesn’t surprise me. The Magic Mirror is a cool thing, but it doesn’t really have much personality. Iago has plenty of that!

I kind of expected that Kronk would make it this far. I don’t want to sway the votes or anything, but my personal opinion has been against voting for him. He’s a great character, but he’s kind of a terrible villain sidekick (I mean, he betrays his villain because of the angel on his shoulder! Not exactly what you want in a trusty henchman).

Iago, on the other hand, definitely leans into his evil side (though I’m not counting the sequels/TV shows here). He desires power, and he is often more aggressive than Jafar. He shows his villainous side by force-feeding the Sultan crackers and cheering on Jafar as he almost kills Aladdin. He’s sarcastic, malicious, and also cunning. He’s the one who suggests to Jafar the plan to marry Jasmine and kill the Sultan. As Jafar says about him, “I love the way your foul little mind works!”

So both of our final two offer comic relief. One of them is somewhat incompetent, while the other is a driving force behind many of the evil plans and almost as evil as his villain is. So will Kronk take the win for generally being the more lovable character overall? Or will Iago’s villainous nature win him the title?

The people of Disney in your Day (you all!) have spoken, and it’s now time to vote on our final two! Which villain sidekick will win? Cast your vote now!

Who are you rooting for in this final round?
