It’s March, which means it’s time for another Disney themed tournament on the blog! This is the 11th year I’m hosting this tournament. We’ve had lots of topics in the past… and honestly, I could start repeating some of them! I think it would be fun to go back to visit something like the tournament of Disney attractions and see how the responses might change.
In case you’re wondering, here is the Disney in your Day tournament “Hall of Fame” from past years:
2015: Favorite attraction – Haunted Mansion
2016: Favorite Disney food – Dole Whip
2017: Best animated Disney movie – The Lion King
2018: Favorite Disney song – Under the Sea
2019: Best Disney villain – Hades
2020: Best Pixar movie – Toy Story
2021: Favorite Disney sidekick – The Genie
2022: Favorite Disney+ TV Show – The Mandalorian
2023: Favorite Star Wars character – Obi-Wan Kenobi
2024: Favorite Marvel superhero – Captain America
But I still have some unique ideas, so we have something new for 2025!
This year we’ll be voting to see who will be the ultimate champion in the category of Disney villain sidekicks.
I’ve done a tournament of villains, I’ve done a tournament of sidekicks, but the villain sidekicks have been mostly neglected until now! I wasn’t initially sure if I would have enough of them to pull together 32 for a tournament, but it is possible.
That means some are a bit more obscure. Your Disney knowledge might be tested with some of these choices! I’ve provided some info and reminders below of who these villainous sidekicks are. If you’re still not familiar with all of them, I encourage you to vote anyway!
How did you pick these characters?
I started with every villain sidekick I could think of, and then I went back to a list of all of the Disney animated films to see if there were any I had forgotten. I still didn’t have quite enough, so I delved into Pixar a little as well (I was going to incorporate Marvel and Star Wars if necessary, but it turns out I didn’t need to!).
Why did you arrange the bracket like this?
I tried a few different combinations to create 4 sub-groups. Ultimately I settled on these categories: humans, pet-like animals, Pairs/trios, and other. Not everything is a perfect fit, but it worked out pretty well!
Am I supposed to vote for the one I think is the most successful sidekick, or my personal favorite?
Honestly, that’s up to you! I usually just choose to vote for my favorite character. But you can think of it however you’d like – who would win in a fight, who you would want if you were a villain in need of a sidekick, or just who do you enjoy watching the most on screen.

Which villain sidekicks are you rooting for to make it to the end?
This was fun. You should do a Disney Princess one, or even like a Lord of the Rings one.
I was thinking next year I might do “Disney Heroines” to get the princesses (and the ladies who aren’t actually princesses) involved!
