Topolino’s Terrace dinner at Disney’s Riviera Resort

October 27, 2020 by Becky Leave a Comment

Read on for my experience having dinner at the new Topolino’s Terrace!

I’m always a bit hesitant on whether or not I should share reviews or write blog posts about Disney restaurants when I’m on a solo trip. After all, when it’s just me I can’t try a ton of different dishes. But my dinner at Topolino’s Terrace was so delicious that I have to talk about it! And hopefully head back there at some point in the not-so-distant future to be able to try other items and add to this post.

They also do a character meal for breakfast which I thoroughly enjoyed and would recommend checking out if you enjoy breakfast and character meals.

Topolino’s Terrace is a new restaurant that opened with the (also new) Riviera Resort. It was my first time visiting the resort and it was super easy to get to. I planned my dinner for a day that I was in Hollywood Studios, so I just hopped on the Skyliner to get there. After dinner I could have taken the Skyliner back to Hollywood Studios or Epcot and then gotten a bus to my resort (I was staying at Animal Kingdom Lodge), but I was tired so I decided to spend the money for a Lyft to get there sooner.

The property that I walked through of the Riviera was beautiful. It seems like a gorgeous resort and hopefully I can stay there someday! Topolino’s Terrace is on the top floor of the main building and has beautiful views and big windows. When fireworks are happening you can actually see the shows from both Hollywood Studios and Epcot!

I visited the night before I was running the Princess half marathon so I didn’t get any fun drinks or cocktails. I did have some hot tea with dessert and they had a huge variety to choose from and brought you your own little teapot which was nice.

Now let’s take a look at the food at Topolino’s Terrace!

The menu is a combination of French and Italian flavors, and the meal starts with bread. It’s not your typical rolls and the bread was quite good. It was served with two types of olive oil – one from France, one from Italy. I like trying different things so having them both was fun. I liked the French one a bit more surprisingly!

I wasn’t sure if I would get an appetizer, but my (amazing) server highly recommended the Gnocchi (Duck Confit, Pesto Bianco, Garden Kale, Pine Nuts):

Well, I am so glad he mentioned it because this is one of the best dishes I’ve eaten in my life. Not just at Disney but anywhere. Duck is not normally my favorite but this was delicious and full of flavor. The real highlight though was the gnocchi and this sauce. The sauce was heavenly – I practically wanted to lick the plate. I could easily get 2 orders of this and call it dinner. Or they should just make it an entree option in a larger portion!

How could my entree possibly follow that appetizer? I went with the Rigatoni (Braised Chicken Sugo, Dandelion Greens, Parmesano-Reggiano):

While it might not have been as amazing as the gnocchi, this was a truly delicious dish in its own right. The chicken was good but the pasta and sauce was the real highlight here. Pasta is one of my favorite things in the world and you can tell this is some good quality pasta.

Surprisingly I did still have some room for dessert and went with something that sounded relatively light, the Fruits of the Forest (Black Currant Mousse, Blueberry Sorbet, Macerated Berries, Hibiscus Cake):

While it looks a little unusual this was another winner for me. It was the perfect way to end the meal without feeling overloaded. It’s also vegan and I can tell you it’s a great option! If you prefer fruity desserts this is really fun and lots of interesting textures. The blueberry sorbert was probably my favorite out of everything and I love having the fresh berries.

Overall I was so impressed with my meal at Topolino’s Terrace. It’s technically considered a signature restaurant which means it is expensive, so I thought it might be a one and done for me – or at least a “once every ten years” sort of thing. But everything I had was so incredible and worth the money that I’m hoping to get back a whole lot sooner than that! The gnocchi is going to be at the top of my list of favorite dishes in Disney, right alongside the Sanaa bread service.
