I know that when it comes to interesting snacks and food most people think of Epcot, but I’m a huge fan of Animal Kingdom. They have a variety of really good and different snacks there that you can pick up. Plenty that I’ve had and enjoyed, but many more I still need to try. If you’ve got a day in Animal Kingdom and you’re looking for some tasty treats, here are my recommendations!
Top 10 Animal Kingdom snacks:
Blueberry Cream Cheese Mousse
We’ve enjoyed everything we’ve tried at Satuli Canteen, but this blueberry cheesecake might be the best thing. Even if you don’t want a full meal at Satuli, just stop in to grab this dessert. It’s so flavorful and the passion fruit curd goes with it amazingly well.
Baked Macaroni and cheese
Mac and cheese might sound like a meal rather than a snack, but these ones are served in small portions which make them the perfect afternoon snack at Eight Spoon Cafe. Sometimes you just want something that’s more filling and savory rather than a sweet treat, and this mac and cheese is great. You can also get it with pulled pork or sweet chili shrimp on top.
Dole Whip with Rum
You can get it without rum too if you’d like, but I’m getting mine with rum! At Tamu Tamu Refreshments you can choose to get a regular dole whip, or to add either dark rum or coconut rum.
Monkey Caramel Apple
There are a ton of things from Zuri’s Sweet Shop that could go on this list, so I suggest you just go in there and see what looks good to you. But if I walked in right now and had my choice, I’d go for the Monkey Caramel apple. It’s not only adorable, it’s covered in delicious caramel and chocolate. If white chocolate is more your thing, there’s an elephant option too.
House-smoked Kobe-style Beef Brisket Poutine
I haven’t tried this yet, but everything about it sounds amazing. It’s Steak Fries, House-made Mozzarella, Pan Sauce with brisket on top. And it’s served at Nomad Lounge, where you can get a delicious drink to go along with it.
Elephant Ear Pastry
This one makes a great morning snack to go with your coffee if you stop by Kusafiri Coffee Shop and Bakery. And you can get them all day if you need a sweet treat later on. They are huge puff pastries with a sugar filling dipped in chocolate. And when I say huge, I’m not kidding! Have a big appetite or consider sharing this one.
In Pandora you’ll find a small stand called Pongu Pongu which serves mostly drinks. This non-alcoholic slushie drink is a “mixture of Limeade with Apple and Desert Pear flavors topped with Passion Fruit Boba Balls.” It’s such a delicious combination, I prefer it over their alcoholic options there.
Soft serve ice cream
Sometimes you just want some classic soft serve ice cream – the Anandapur ice cream truck is the place to get it. Chocolate, vanilla, or swirl, and you can get it as a float too. Animal Kingdom can get incredibly hot, especially in the summer, so an ice cream float might be just the thing. And the truck itself is really cool looking too.
Buffalo Chicken Chips
I think these are pretty new (within the last year or so), as I didn’t know about them before, but the photo on Disney’s website literally makes my stomach grumble. You’ll find them at Trilo-Bites, and they look to be of a very shareable portion. It’s seasoned housemade potato chips covered in buffalo chicken, arugula, celery, tomatoes, crumbled blue cheese, and blue cheese dressing.
Maybe you love Mickey Waffles, but switch it up a bit with a chocolate waffle at Tamu Tamu Refreshments. You can get it served with vanilla ice cream or chocolate mousse for those serious chocolate lovers!
