When we decided to do a breakfast on our Magic Kingdom day, there were a lot of places we could have gone – but since they started doing breakfast at the Plaza recently and it was something I hadn’t tried before, we decided to eat there!
Three of us met for a late breakfast (around 10:30) since my one friend had just run the Princess 5k that morning! If you haven’t been inside the Plaza Restaurant it’s pretty small but quaint. My friend referred to it as “very Walt,” and you definitely get that old time Main Street USA feeling inside.
While the breakfast menu isn’t huge, it has most of your basic options and a few unique things. They also have your typical breakfast beverages (and a few adult breakfast beverages!). You can choose from a mimosa, sangria, or peach bellini. I started my meal with coffee, water, and a bellini. It was enjoyable but nothing super special and probably overpriced. I wouldn’t necessarily order one again unless I’d had a pretty rough 24 hours (as had been the case that morning!).
For my meal I had the Lobster-Fried Green Tomato Eggs Benedict (Two-poached Eggs with Lobster on top of a Crispy-fried Green Tomato with Hollandaise Sauce and served with Breakfast Potatoes):
This entree was definitely the highlight in our group. The fried green tomatoes were nice and crispy and actually made a really excellent base. There was a generous amount of lobster here too. The eggs were poached well and the hollandaise sauce was tasty. I would highly recommend this one!
My one friend had the Steak and Eggs (10-oz Strip Steak with Two Scrambled Eggs served with Breakfast Potatoes):
I don’t think he was too impressed with this steak. Despite ordering it medium it was way overcooked, and had a lot of fatty parts. I know you shouldn’t expect a lot from a breakfast steak, but it was pretty mediocre.
My other friend had the All American Classic Breakfast Platter (Two Mickey waffles, Scrambled Eggs, Breakfast Potatoes, Sausage, Bacon, and a Biscuit):
This basically has a little bit of everything you might want when it comes to a classic breakfast. Breakfast meats, eggs, and of course Mickey Waffles! Nothing super unique but also nothing you can go wrong with. A good classic Disney breakfast. Also great if you have a big appetite (or just ran a 5k!).
I don’t think I would make breakfast at the Plaza a priority unless you really wanted to sit down for breakfast in the Magic Kingdom and you want some basic breakfast food like eggs, waffles, and bacon. The only other reason to eat here would be if you are really interested in the lobster fried green tomato eggs benedict, because that was really good. If you’re looking for a great sit-down breakfast there are better choices. And if you’re just looking for basic breakfast food you can get that at the resort quick service locations for almost half the price.
Have you tried the new Plaza Restaurant breakfast yet?
