If you’ve been following the blog, you know that I visited all 40 booths at the Epcot Food and Wine Festival and had at least one item from each booth. But if you don’t have a full week to dedicate to Food and Wine, or you’re not interested in gaining 5 pounds despite walking 15,000+ steps a day (true story), you might just want the highlights. So I’ve decided to put together a list of my personal favorite items that I tried at this year’s Food and Wine Festival. These are the things I would be first in line to get again if I went back this year.
The best of the 2017 Epcot Food and Wine Festival:
Zesty Cheeseburger and Cheddar Cheese Macaroni Handwich (Epcot Legacy Showplace) – cheeseburger and mac and cheese in an edible bread cone? There’s nothing about this that isn’t delicious. Only downside is the novelty of the handwich makes it a little tricky to eat.
Founders Brewing Company Green Zebra Watermelon Gose Ale (Light Lab) – if you like fruitier beers, this is a really good one. It’s got some good watermelon flavor and is a bit sour as well.
Sweet Avocado Crema (Active Eats) – I love avocado – guacamole is my jam – but I hadn’t had an avocado dessert. This combination of strawberries, yellow cake, and sweet avocado was dessert heaven, and I didn’t feel guilty about eating it either!
Seared Scallops (Coastal Eats) – with roasted corn and butterbean succotash and chili-chipotle butter sauce, these scallops were very well cooked with excellent flavor. I love seeing a booth dedicated to seafood.
Cauliflower Risotto (Almond Orchard) – with pulled chicken, artichokes, spinach, and parmesan cheese topped with a balsamic vinegar. This was the underdog of the festival for me. It was so good and went together really well. I’ve heard some differing opinions on it though, so if you’ve tried it I’d love to know what you think.
Kalua Pork Slider (Hawaii) – This is a festival favorite that is around every year, and there’s a good reason. It’s a little sweet, a little spicy, and just all around delicious.
Loaded Greek “nachos” (Greece) – with pita chips, meatless sausage crumbles, and vegan tzatziki. We don’t have Greek food very often so the flavors are different for us, and this was a yummy combination.
Warm Indian Bread (India) – if you can’t get to Sanaa, this is a great option at Epcot. The bread service at Sanaa is one of my favorite food dishes ever, and this is like a mini version of it.
Bain’s Cape Mountain Whisky and Frozen Coke (Resfreshment Cool Post) – Whisky and coke sounds pretty good, but make it frozen coke in the Florida heat and it’s suddenly ten times better!
African wine flight (Africa) – if you’re going to get any wine flight at the festival, I recommend this one. JamJar is a long favorite of ours, but the other two on this flight were surprisingly good as well.
Beer Flight (Brewer’s Collection) – this was my favorite of the beer flights. The pomegranate beer was a standout, despite the low ABV. The other two provided a nice variety without being too strong.
11 items made my list of the best of the 2017 Epcot Food and Wine Festival! With a good balance of food and drink items. If I only had a day or two at Epcot this season, this is what I would concentrate on.
Have you been? What sounds like it would be the best of the 2017 Epcot Food and Wine Festival for you?
