Stitch Fix Review – August 2015

August 27, 2015 by Becky 14 Comments

stitch fix review - Disney in your Day

I’m happy to say that it’s Stitch Fix time! Stitch Fix is a subscription box service that has you fill out a style profile survey, and then they send you 5 clothing items to try on – you decide what to keep and what to send back!

My stylist was Julie again, and my only real request in addition to my usual preferences was to try and keep the prices low.  I’m going on vacation soon and I need money for that!  For the most part she did a great job staying with this request.  Let’s take a look at what I got!

Margaret M Christiana Pencil Skirt – $78

This is the item I went back and forth on the most.  I don’t own many pencil skirts, and I liked how this one fit.  It was soft and comfortable and a nice color.  Ultimately however it was the price that forced me to return it.  It’s hard to tell from the picture, but it also had a sort of diamond pattern that I wasn’t crazy about.  Verdict: Returned, sadly.

Renee C Porsha Striped Dress – $48

stitch fix 3

I always get excited about seeing a $48 dress!  Unfortunately, this one was a little bit boring for me.  It was also one of those shapeless dresses that just kind of hangs there.  Even with the belt I felt a little more frumpy than I would like in it.  Verdict: returned.

Skies are Blue Galla Mesh Detail Sweater – $48

Oh my, this sweater.  Do you see how it has the mesh detailing at the top?  Well, that actually goes down the whole sweater.  There are like strips of mesh and then strips of actual fabric.  Even with a tank underneath it looked odd to me and it’s not something I would wear to work.  It was also a bit large on me.  Verdict: returned.

Skies are Blue Benson Embroidered Trim Top – $48

When I opened my box this is what I was most excited about because it actually had some color to it!  And I was relieved when I tried it on that it fit well, I liked how it looked, and it was comfy.  It’s a shirt I can dress down with jeans or dress up with a skirt and some jewelry, so I’m a big fan!  Verdict: kept.

Mak Dahla Lightweight Cardigan – $48

stitch fix review - Disney in your Day

This was a navy blue cardigan and while it was nice, it was nothing special.  It also did this weird sort of floppy thing at the top of the collar.  The sleeves were just a little bit tight so even though I thought about keeping it because I love cardigans and don’t have a navy one, I ended sending it back just because I don’t know how often I would wear it knowing the sleeves were tight (and that was with short sleeves, I don’t know how it would be with long sleeves!).  Verdict:  Returned.

Overall I only kept one thing from my stitch fix this month, but it was something I really liked!  And my wallet is happy about that too 🙂

If you’re interested in signing up for your own Fix, I would love it if you’d use my referral link – it would give me a $25 credit to use on a future fix, and doesn’t cost you anything.  I used a friend’s link when I signed up for mine so I could help her out, so I know it’s much appreciated!

I actually REALLY love that black mesh sweater on you! One of these days I want to try Stitch Fix, once runDisney stops taking every spare penny I have. 😉

Aww thanks! I actually do like the style of the sweater itself but not the mesh part. I mean, I feel like if I’m going to wear a sweater it needs to be warm and not full of holes lol.

You are as cute as a button! I love all the looks! In the first box I got I only kept one thing. A co-worker of mine just kept her entire box. I was so jealous of what she got! I have a box coming to me on Saturday. . not going to lie, I”m excited!

I love that pencil skirt! This month was the first month that I skipped out on getting Stitch Fix because I am going on vacation. It was so hard to skip but like you, I need money for my vacation. I can’t though for next months fix.

Yeah, I’m pretty sure if it wasn’t for the vacation and trying to save up a little extra money I definitely would have kept the skirt!

It’s really fun! I highly recommend it, and you can set it up to deliver every other month (that’s what I do) to spread out the cost a little.

I love the top you kept. It looks really great on you. I also actually like the black mesh top. I still have yet to try a subscription box. Maybe one day… 🙂

Hmm I keep seeing this box floating around, I’m hesitant to try although I see there’s not really a con in trying. Thanks for sharing.

Yeah, I would recommend giving it a try! Worst case scenario you hate everything and are out your $20 styling fee… but honestly you can usually re-sell stuff in facebook groups or ebay so if you picked the cheapest thing to keep it might not be too much of a loss.
