For the Princess half marathon I decided to do a Rapunzel running costume. There were several pieces to my outfit, but the most important thing to me was that it was comfortable. Some of them I made and some of them I bought, but I figured I’d share how I put the whole thing together in case anyone else wants to do a Rapunzel costume!
Shirt
This is the one part of the costume that I really made most of it. I bought the shirt itself at Target but added all of the decorations. If you know me, you know I’m a huge fan of the power of a hot glue gun, especially for something I’m only planning to really wear once. So I used some thin pink ribbon to create the corset design on the front, gluing it down as I went along. Then I had some thicker pink ribbon that I put around the sleeves – I made sure to use more ribbon so that it wasn’t taut but would puff up a little to give it the appearance of puffy sleeves.
Skirt
I wanted to make a skirt but ran out of time. I chose to buy a sparkly purple running skirt from GlitterSkirts. I do really like this style of skirt (as do many other Disney runners judging by how many I saw on the race course!). I could have added some designs like Rapunzel’s dress with gold fabric paint but I decided to leave it in case I wanted to re-use the skirt for another costume some day. Just keep in mind that with these types of skirts you need to wear shorts underneath as they are very see-through! If you want to purchase a GlitterSkirt I am now a GlitterSkirts ambassador – use the code “Becky” for 20% off your order!
Headband
I love headbands, and the best one that I found for this costume was the Rapunzel style headband from RawThreads. I love their shirts and their headbands are great too. I like the thickness of them – when it’s cold in the morning I can pull them over my ears to keep warm, and then move it back when I get warmer.
Other
To round out my outfit I wore purple compression socks (the same ones I wore for my Esmeralda running costume!). I also had my purple water bottle and gray flipbelt, and of course my New Balance running shoes.
While this wasn’t the most intricate costume I’ve done, I still had a lot of fun putting it together and I’m pretty happy with how it turned out.

What do you think of my running costume? Which characters should I consider for future RunDisney races?
I love this! One day I want to do a RunDisney race and, when I do, I want to make my own costume. Yours was fabulous!

Thank you! I used to have really long hair too but I cut a lot off about a month ago 😉
