A look at the Hollywood Vine dinner at Hollywood Studios with Minnie and friends:
Let me set the scene: I was in Hollywood Studios by myself the night before the 10k, looking for somewhere I could get dinner that might have pasta.
I browsed some quick service menus, but I also decided to check what reservations might be available. To my surprise there were actually a number of options for that evening. No Mama Melrose (which would be the obvious choice for pasta), but I saw a number of Hollywood and Vine dinner reservations available.
A quick look at their menu told me the buffet had at least 2 pasta choices, as well as some other carb-y deliciousness, so I figured… why not?
I was dining solo, but it’s always fun to meet Mickey and friends! I love Disney because nobody acts like you’re weird to be an adult by yourself doing a character meal.
The atmosphere
This is a pretty cool restaurant if you want something seasonal, because they change the characters’ outfits and the decor depending on the time of year. You have spring, summer, Halloween, and Christmas. Because I was there in February it was a more generic “Hollywood” themeing, called “Minnie’s Silver Screen Dine.”
I actually loved that it was just “Hollywood” themed, becase it feels appropriate being in Hollywood Studios! The inside of the restaurant isn’t really anything to write home about. For the most part it’s a lot of silver metal with a black and white tiled floor. There is a large mural on the back wall with icons of Hollywood which is pretty neat to look at.
Hollywood and Vine is a buffet, so there are a lot of options. Always subject to change of course, but here’s a look at what’s typically there and what I found during my meal.

The food
Hollywood and Vine is a buffet, so there’s lots of options available. I tried a small amount of a lot of things, and then I may have gone back for a little bit more of what I really enjoyed! Since it’s all listed in the menu up there, I’ll just hit some of the highlights from what I had.
For the most part, the soups and salads are pretty typical. I’d probably skip most of this to have room for some of the better options, but it’s there if you want it. If you enjoy shrimp though, make sure you don’t miss the peel and eat shrimp that was tucked into this area! It was some of the best shrimp I’ve had.
There was quite a large variety of entrees and sides, and I was impressed that it wasn’t all typical buffet food. Out of the meats that I tried, the salmon was probably my favorite, with the honey mustard sauce as a close second. I also really enjoyed the olive oil potatoes and the Mexican street corn.
As I mentioned in the beginning, I was definitely looking for some pasta for the night before a race, and the chef’s special did not disappoint (at least, it didn’t disappoint me! If you’re not a seafood person you might not have been as excited). As far as I could tell, it was some sort of squid ink pasta in a cheese-forward sauce, with seafood, tomatoes, and breadcrumbs. It was rich, excellent, and different than many other pasta dishes I tried before.
I also got some mac and cheese from the kids section for more carb loading! Anyone can take food from anywhere, so adults are welcome to help themselves to some of the more mild options if you’d like.
It was tough, but I did in fact save room for dessert! I tried a little bit of the Mississippi mud pie and a peanut butter and jelly tart. The mud pie was good – definitely a nice choice if you’re a chocolate person. The PB and J tart was surprisingly delicious! I really enjoyed that one.
I also grabbed some soft serve chocolate ice cream – with Mickey sprinkles, of course!
The characters
One thing to note is that the characters at Hollywood and Vine for dinner are different than those who are out at breakfast. Breakfast there sees Disney Jr. friends from popular TV shows. Lunch and dinner feature Minnie and friends.
For the most part you can expect the same four characters here, which include Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, and Goofy. During my visit they were dressed in their red-carpet best, so they had some pretty fancy outfits on!
Mickey was rocking a good-looking suit in blue. Goofy also had a suit on, but his was a little more, well… goofy! It was a burgundy color with pinstriped pants and a paisley design shirt.
Goofy actually accidentally passed my table on his trip around the restaurant. I think because he’s taller I must have been out of his line of sight as a solo diner. Once I saw he wasn’t coming back my way, I grabbed an attendant and just mentioned it. They were wonderful about sending him back to me immediately. And Goofy was so apologetic about missing me that he gave me extra hugs and attention!
Pluto was fun too, with a fancy blue top-hat and a sparkly silver star collar. Minnie had a beautiful pink dress on.
I know I mentioned I was dining solo, but I guess this wasn’t techincally true, as I did have my porg, Nugget, with me on my shoulder. I think every single character got excited when they saw Nugget and pointed him out, but Minnie in particular was especially taken with him. I even took Nugget off my shoulder for her so she could hold him. It made for some very cute pictures, and Nugget was definiely the star of the show that night!
Overall I really enjoyed Hollywood and Vine, more than I expected to. I thought the food would be boring, but it really wasn’t. In fact, I’m surprised to say that the seafood was a highlight here! And the character interactions were all a lot of fun.
If you want to meet some of Mickey and the gang but don’t want to do Chef Mickey’s, I’d highly recommend Hollywood and Vine. It’s pricey, but all character meals are, and is a really good value if you have the dining plan. The location is convenient for your Hollywood Studios day, and there was a ton of food options. Plus, if you’re visiting during one of the seasonal meals, you’ll see them in different fun outfits!
Not sure where to start when planning your Disney World trip? Feeling overwhelmed with all of the information and how to keep track of everything?
Consider vacation planning printables – over 60 pages of trip planning, including a budget worksheet, guide to characters, trip comparison worksheet, a look at the dining plans, info about Disney Lightning Lane passes, daily itineraries, packing checklist, and much more.
I’d probably return here with a group of friends to have some fun character meal experiences. I think there’s something for everyone on the buffet. Perhaps a good idea would be a late lunch here – you could eat your fill and it would probably be enough for both lunch and dinner!
