One fun, unique thing about visiting Disney World is having the opportunity to do a Disney character meal. These happen at certain restaurants and offer different characters walking around to visit each of the tables. It’s a great way to guarantee that you’ll be able to meet, take photos with, and get autographs from several characters without waiting in line.
Disney character breakfasts are some of the most popular, but some restaurants also offer them for lunch and dinner. In fact, there are a dozen character meals on property! So you may be feeling a bit overwhelmed about which one(s) you want to book for your trip. Since the Disney character meals are so popular it’s very important you book as soon as you can to make sure you get that reservation.
While certain characters are not usually guaranteed to be at a meal, since they can be switched out if necessary, there are ones you can typically expect to meet at each restaurant. I’ve created a guide below so you can pick the right meal for you – whether meeting certain characters is more important, having a certain type of food is your priority, or the atmosphere matters most.
If you want to meet Princesses:
- Cinderella’s Royal Table
- Akershus
- 1900 Park Fare (Cinderella and family at dinner only)
- Trattoria al Forno (Rapunzel and Ariel at breakfast only)
- Artist Point (Snow White)
If you want to meet Mickey and the gang:
- Chef Mickey’s
- Cape May Cafe
- Tusker House
- Ohana (Mickey and Pluto at breakfast)
- Garden Grill (Mickey and Pluto)
- Hollywood and Vine (dinner)
- Topolino’s Terrace (breakfast only)
If you want to meet other characters:
- Crystal Palace (Winnie the Pooh and friends)
- Garden Grill (Chip and Dale)
- Hollywood and Vine (Disney Junior characters at breakfast)
- 1900 Park Fare (Alice, Mary Poppins, Mad Hatter at breakfast, Cinderella and family at dinner)
- Ohana (Lilo and Stitch)
- Trattoria al Forno (Prince Eric and Flynn Rider)
- Artist Point (Evil Queen and dwarfs)
If you want really good food:
If you’re booking less than 180 days ahead of time:
- Garden Grill
- Hollywood and Vine
- Cape May Cafe
If you want a plated meal instead of a buffet:
- Cinderella’s Royal Table
- Topolino’s Terrace
- Akershus
- Trattoria al Forno
- Garden Grill
- Ohana
- Artist Point
If the atmosphere is most important to you:
- Garden Grill (rotating restaurant above Epcot’s Living with the Land)
- Hollywood and Vine (dinner has Mickey and friends in different outfits depending on the seasons/holiday)
- Cinderella’s Royal Table (you’re eating in the castle!)
- Artist Point (though great for kids, it also feels a little more “adult friendly”)
- Topolino’s Terrace (located on the top floor of the Riviera with great views)
Which Disney character meal do you want to try on your next trip?
This is really cute I think my favorite would be Mickey and the gang. I will be pinning all your stuff for when I get ready to take my boys to Disney.
I feel like I need to pick and choose and match together to find the best character meal! I’ve never done this before!
I would love to try Cinderella’s Royal Table. Eating in the caste is a gorgeous idea.
