Disney mug of the month: Tiana’s Foods

Last updated November 26, 2024 by Becky Leave a Comment

I admit I had mixed emotions when they first announced they were re-themeing Splash Mountain. It had always been one of my favorite rides. I loved the thrill of the drop, but also the animatronics and the music. When they said they were themeing it to Princess and the Frog, I got a lot more excited – it’s one of my favorite movies!

I got to experience Tiana’s Bayou Adventure for the first time this past September, and overall I loved it! It’s a lot of fun, and it’s nice to see Princess and the Frog get some more love. Of course, with a new attraction comes another way for it to get plenty of love – with more merchandise, of course!

I’m sure it will surprise no one that a mug is one of the items offered (and even less surprising that I picked that as one of my souvenirs). One of the things that I love about Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is how it isn’t just a retelling of the movie. It has its own immersive story, with lots of background information. And that story begins with the establishment of “Tiana’s Foods,” her latest business venture after the restaurant.

So rather than it being a “Tiana’s Bayou Adventure” mug as just a reference to the ride, it’s as if Tiana’s Foods really exists and this is a mug you could purchase. In general I much prefer that sort of souvenir! It has a pretty design with Tiana herself featured at the top with a lilypad background. The background is the mug is really pretty. Embossed on that lovely green color is a pattern featuring the lotus blossom.

The text has “est. 1927” at that top, and then below Tiana’s Foods it has her logo – “bringing folks together.” And to finish it all off you have the evening star right at the bottom. I love all of these little touches!

What’s in my mug: I mentioned last month that I received a generous gift of a friend with lots of coffee, so I’ve still got plenty of fun Joffrey’s Disney flavors to go through! So far my favorite has been the Ursula blend, which has caramel, vanilla, and dark chocolate.

What I’m currently reading: I’ve had this book on my shelf for a little bit, but I figured now is the perfect time to give it a read! It’s part of the “Twisted Tale” series, which takes a Disney story and asks a “what if?” question about it to change the plot. I’ve read a few of them before and they have been pretty interesting. This one asks “What if Tiana made a deal that changed everything?” You find out pretty early on in the book that the deal she makes is with the Shadow Man. She’s able to bring her dad back as if nothing had happened, but of course it comes at a cost. I’m about 100 pages in and it’s really well written, but I’m getting nervous because I have an idea how it will go and I think it will be pretty sad in parts! But I’m looking forward to finishing it.

What mug are you using right now?
