Perhaps it’s fitting that I’m sharing this mug today, as yesterday was the last day of the Disney 100 Exhibition in Philadelphia. But that just means it’s going on to other places, so hopefully, more people can see it and experience it!
While the exhibition was really great overall, the one thing that I was slightly disappointed in was the merchandise (or lack thereof, I guess). I was ready to spend a little money, but there wasn’t too much that was exclusive to this event. I was really hoping for a book that went through the items on display and gave more info about them (or even the info that was on the plaques at the museum) because it would be great to have a record of that.
I did ask a woman working there, and she said that she thought something like that would be coming later but it wasn’t available yet. I wish I had gone back to the exhibit before it left, but the summer got crazy!
So instead I had to buy a mug, of course.
This is a very pretty and understated mug. It’s also very difficult to photograph because it has an iridescent glittery shine, which means that everything reflects light off of it. So I did my best and hopefully you can get the idea.
The first side of the mug of the “Disney 100 The Exhibition” logo on it. The other side of the mug is a silhouette of Mickey Mouse. They are both in silver glitter. The official colors of the Disney 100 Celebration are platinum and purple, so I guess they are leaning into the “platinum” here. It does really pop against the black background.
What’s in my mug: The last time I was in Jim Thorpe, PA I had to get another bag of Butterbeer flavored coffee beans, and I’m just finishing those up now. The timing is good because fall is coming and that means it will be time to switch to fall coffee flavors! I know everyone has different ideas of when they want to start the fall season – for some, it’s closer to the beginning of August (hey, that’s when Disney starts), and some begin with back-to-school. For me, it’s after Labor Day. August is too early but once we hit early September I’m ready for my pumpkin spice!
What I’m currently reading: While I was not able to get a copy of the program for the Franklin Institute Exhibit, I was gifted the book The Story of Disney: 100 Years of Wonder by a good friend! This is an absolutely gorgeous book with lots of great photographs. It goes through the history of the company in the same way that the exhibit did, with different sections/chapters about different areas of Disney history. While it doesn’t walk through the exhibit, it does include a lot of the artwork and artifacts that we saw, so that is nice. It’s a pretty great deal on Amazon right now, so I’d say definitely worth it for a really pretty coffee table style book that actually has a lot of great info in it!
What mug are you using right now? And what are you currently reading?
