Disney mug of the month – Magic Kingdom

June 21, 2016 by Becky 24 Comments

Magic Kingdom mug - Disney in your Day

The mug I’m drinking from this month is one of the ones I’ve probably used the most often – I kept it at work for about 6 months before I decided to switch it out.  If you’re familiar with the Starbucks “You are Here” mugs you might recognize it.  This is their Magic Kingdom mug.  They have one for each of the parks, but of course the Magic Kingdom one is special to me!  It’s another gift I got from my pixie dust pal (though this one is from last year’s pal so I now know who she is – thanks Natalie!).

I love the style and designs of the Starbucks mugs.  They are simplistic but have a modern edge of them.  Each park has different colors for it – the Magic Kingdom is predominantly blue and yellow.  I love the use of yellow in the design – I always think of blue when I think of Magic Kingdom due to Cinderella’s castle, but the yellow added makes it more vibrant.

What I’m drinking:  Target’s vanilla creme brulee k-cups.  Though I need to order more of my blueberry coffee – that’s one I always like to have in the summer!  Hopefully for the next “mug of the month” post I’ll have that 😉

What I’m currently reading:  We’ve just started our summer reading program at the library where I work, so things are going to be very busy!  I’m doing five book discussions with the middle school students this summer, and I’m just finishing reading or re-reading the books I’ll be doing with them.  Jeremy Fink and the Meaning of Life, by Wendy Mass, is a great middle grade novel about a boy whose father died but left him a mysterious box that is said to hold the meaning of life inside.  During his quest to find out what’s in the box he learns a lot more along the way.  Even though it’s aimed at the pre-teen/teen crowd I still think this one is worthwhile reading for adults too!

What’s in your mug this morning?  And what are you currently reading?

As always, the mug is so cute! The book sounds pretty interesting, I’m going to add it to my list!

I had Lipton and then Darjeeling tea this morning and had them in one of my favorite mugs — the one you gave me that says “Cat Mother of the Year” on it. For some reason I feel like having an iced coffee (must have seen a picture of it somewhere) so I thought I would try some decaf and see if it agrees with me. I finished all the Game of Thrones books and who knows when the last two will come out, so I’m reading the history of Westeros called “The World of Ice & Fire.” I’m also reading a number of non-fiction books, including one called “Moving Messages” about how to make sermons interesting and interactive.

Aww yay the cat mug! Tom is still pestering me to read the Game of Thrones books, but I don’t know if/when I’ll get around to it.

I use the cat mug almost every morning. As to the GoT books, the author is a great storyteller, but they are very violent. I know Jason wants to read them but he wants to wait until all seven books are published. Who know when that will be.

Yeah, the violence concerns me a little. I also totally shouldn’t use this as an excuse, but they are so long. There’s just so many books I want to read right now that it’s hard to dedicate that much time to one series!

I understand. Maybe when the author finishes the series, you and Jason can read them together.

Now that’s a mug I’d love to have.

In terms of fiction, I’m reading Mycroft Holmes, a book about Sherlock Holmes’ elder brother, a sort of origin story for the character about when he was younger. And it’s written by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar of all people, lol!

Does your library have the Fifty Shades of Grey books or is it banned there, lol?

That book sounds really interesting, I’ll have to look it up. We do have Fifty Shades haha, though I don’t know that it goes out much anymore, not like it did 2 years ago or whenever it was big!

Lol nice, haven’t read the books or seen the movie either. Our library has the books, but didn’t get the movie; I’m guessing it’s too crude for a library, lol.

Oddly though, we do have the Magic Mike movies which I would think are just as crude as Fifty Shades? I dunno.

We have several of those Starbucks mugs in our house. We get one for every new place that we visit. I also really like the style of them! As far as books go right now I am reading Me Before You. Hoping that I actually finish a book for once!

I love the Starbucks mugs, and didn’t know they had a Disney one. So cool! I’m reading a super fast summer read called Beautiful Day. I think I’ll have it done by tonight…and just started yesterday. I have to start the next Cheryl Strayed book for book club too.

I love that feeling when you read a quick book and get into it enough that you can finish it in a day or two! I’ll finally have time to relax July 4th weekend so I’m hoping to read a book or two then 🙂

I try to collect the starbucks mugs when I travel (though they can be bulky!) so this one is a MUST on my list! Do you know if all the parks have them or just Magic Kingdom?

They have them for all the parks! The 4 in Disney World, plus 2 in California for Disneyland.
