Recently Starbucks introduced a totally new line of “you are here” Disney mugs for each of the theme parks. I don’t have any of the new ones (yet!) but I have both Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios from the old collection. I realized I never shared my Hollywood Studios one, so now is as good a time to break out this mug as any!
I absolutely love the vivid colors of this mug. It has your three basic primary colors with different shades of each, and red on the inside which really makes it pop. The main draw of the mug is the dragon from Fantasia, with Sorcerer Mickey beside her. On the other side you do see the Chinese Theater building and the earful tower, both of which are part of the “old” Hollywood Studios. The Earful Tower is gone and the Chinese Theater will be redone into Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway. The new Hollywood Studios Starbucks mug features a different color scheme and Toy Story, Tower of Terror, and Rockin’ Roller Coaster. So pretty different from this one!
What’s in my cup: I’ve talked about it a lot before, but that’s because it’s pretty darn delicious. I’m still drinking my Pumpkin King pumpkin spice coffee from Trader Sam’s Coffee Company. It’s the best pumpkin spice coffee I’ve ever had, and I fully intend to enjoy it right up until Thanksgiving, when I’ll switch over a Christmas-y coffee.
What I’m currently reading: I was super excited to pick up this book by Tim Federle called Life is Like a Musical. Tim Federle has quickly become one of my favorite authors. I completely fell in love with his middle grade books about a boy named Nate who goes to perform on Broadway (the first one is called Better Nate than Ever). His YA novel called the Great American Whatever was wonderful as well. You might also know him if you’ve seen these quirky cocktail books: he’s the author of Tequila Mockingbird and Gone with the Gin. He danced on Broadway and has written Broadway shows as well. His books are heartwarming and hilarious.
So needless to say, I was excited to see that he was doing a sort of “self-help” book comparing life to being on Broadway. As a theater person this resonates with me. Each “chapter” is only about 3-4 pages and focuses on one single topic or idea that he learned from the theater life. There really are so many things I’ve learned from the theater life, and reading them written out just makes it feel even more real for me. There are lots of references to musicals and other examples, and I’m finding it an extremely enjoyable book that has great life advice but doesn’t take itself too seriously.
What’s in your cup right now? And what are you currently reading?
That’d be a cup that I would like to own!
It’s such a fun one! I really like the Starbucks mug designs.
Such a cool mug! I’d love to add it to my collection.
It’s a good one, I love the colors!
I think mugs make great gifts and souvenirs. I’m about to start Turtles All the Way Down as soon as I get some time to read.
Oh, let me know what you think of it! I’m on the wait list for it at my library.
Love this mug! I collect mugs and have always wanted a Starbucks mug from Disney!
The Disney Starbucks mugs are so fun! I love all of the You are Here mugs.
Oh my gosh that mug is so cute! I’ve never gotten a Disney mug.
Most of my mugs are Disney mugs, haha. I think I have about 20!
