I won’t say that I buy a mug EVERY time I go to Disney, but I will admit that it certainly happens a lot. On this past trip I was really hoping for a marathon mug at the expo, but unfortunately they didn’t sell one. I did get a travel mug, but that’s not a MUG mug. So I didn’t plan on buying one, but the world had a different idea 😉
As you might know, I was very stressed before the marathon with a lot of things going on. I wasn’t even sure if I was going to run it. But the night before the race I left Epcot and went back to the room to get to bed early, and I found a gift waiting for me. One of my friends had sent me a present to wish me luck – it had a good luck balloon, snacks, a water bottle – and a Disney mug!
This one has a silhouette of our good friend Mickey Mouse in red on a black background. The inside of the mug is red too, which gives it a neat look. I also really like the shape of this type of mug. In many ways it’s perfect to represent the marathon for me – Mickey is the mascot of the marathon, and the marathon logo has traditionally been red (or had a lot of red in it).
What’s in my cup: Kona coffee from Disney’s Kona Cafe! We enjoyed it there on our trip last August. I bought some for my friends as a Christmas gift from Joffrey’s (they sell lots of Disney coffees) and couldn’t resist picking up a bag for myself as well!
What I’m reading: I’m about halfway through the book Of Fire and Stars, which I got in one of my new subscription boxes called Owl Crate. It’s a YA fantasy novel with two powerful female protagonists and I’m really enjoying it so far.
What’s in your mug this month? And have you read any good books recently?
That’s an amazing mug! That books looks great too! Checking it on Goodreads now! 🙂
It looks like it’s had some mixed reviews on Goodreads. I am enjoying reading it, but a little worried now that I won’t be satisfied with the ending/conclusion!
I like the mug. It’s always nice to bring something back that can add a little magic to your day.
I agree, it’s always better to start the day with Mickey Mouse!
It certainly is.
What’s the plotline of the book?? Sounds interesting!
Coming Up Roses
Basically, it’s about a couple of different Kingdoms where magic has been prevalent, and there are two groups – those who want to get rid of all magic and those who use it (which includes the royal family), and the ones who have the affinity for it and want to be able to develop their powers. One of the heroines is the princess (soon to be queen) of the royal family but secretly has an affinity herself and has to struggle to hide her magic. An assassination leads to a bigger rift between the two factions and possible war, and the princess teams up with the other heroine to try and figure out what’s really going on with the magic users.
I’m really enjoying it! Though it feels like little “Elsa-esque” with the whole “queen who has powers but has to hide them” thing 😉
That mug is super cute, and I’ll definitely be checking out the book. I am a sucker for a good YA book, and sometimes I like them better than actual adult fiction. 🙂
It’s a rarity for me to read adult fiction haha! Most of what I read is YA or even middle grade (especially when I’m not interested in romance or teen angst and want a quick read I really enjoy some good middle grade novels).
Right now I am reading your blog and drinking dark roast, cinnamon coffee 🙂
I may have to look into that book. I love YA fiction and haven’t known what to choose next.
Mmm, that coffee sounds great! If you ever want book recommendations just ask, it’s my job (I’m a librarian haha!). Some of my all-time favorite YAs are The Sky is Everywhere (if you like a good cry) and The Great American Whatever (witty and sad at the same time). And I haven’t read it yet but The Sun is Also a Star by Nicola Yoon just won a bunch of awards/honors at the Youth Media Awards.
