With the opening of the new area of Disney Springs, a lot of new restaurants have opened as well. I wasn’t able to visit too many of them yet (unfortunately), but I did at least get to have dinner at one of them – D-Luxe Burger. Also, can I just mention how much the name of this place is throwing me off? I keep wanting to call it D-Luxe Burgers with an “s” at the end. I had to go through this post and delete all the S’s!
This counter service restaurant has a number of specialty burgers (as well as your standard burgers) as well as fries and milkshakes. I will say that even for a Disney restaurant I found it very expensive. I’m used to paying $12 for a burger and fries, but the burgers at D-Luxe range from $10-13 without a side. If you want fries, you’re looking at an extra $5 for a regular size or $7.50 for a large (good for sharing). The non-alcoholic milkshakes are $7. So if you want a burger, fries, and a milkshake you’re looking at about $25 per person. I will say the food is very good but you’re definitely paying a premium for it.
The prices didn’t seem to turn anyone away though, since the line stretched pretty far out the door the night we were there and we waited a good 20 minutes just to get up to the counter to order. You order, then they hand you a pager, and then you can find a table while you wait for you food. Despite the crowds there was a decent amount of seating and were able to grab a table right away. The inside looks small, but they’ve actually got lots of seats outside too.
For my meal I ordered the El Diablo Burger (chorizo-and-signature-blend patty, fried banana peppers, pepper jack cheese, lettuce, tomato and chipotle mayonnaise). I thought it was a really excellent burger. It had a nice kick to it, but not an overwhelming spiciness. I loved the combination of flavors.
My friend ordered the basic cheeseburger. She enjoyed this as well. You can see from the photo that the buns look really good. The bread was tasty, and so much better than the typical Disney buns that fall apart as you eat the burger. You can also see from the photos how greasy these burgers are! Neither of us ordered fries because of the price and we didn’t want to get overly full.
That turned out to be a good call as we both got milkshakes which were quite filling! I had the s’mores milkshake. It was very good, and had a lot of yummy s’mores flavor. I was impressed that you could really taste the graham cracker along with the marshmallow and chocolate. I’ve found that a lot of things which claim to be “s’mores flavored” are really just chocolate and marshmallow. While it was good, it wasn’t the best s’mores milkshake I’ve eaten. That title goes to the S’mores milkshake over at Cowfish in Universal City Walk. The one at Cowfish was also $1 less than this one.
Overall D-Luxe Burger was a really tasty meal, but it just seems to me to be overpriced for what you’re actually getting. We could spend just a tiny bit more and eat at a sit-down place and probably get more food too. But if you’re looking for a good burger this is the place to go. Make sure you order one of their specialty burgers!
Have you tried D-Luxe Burger? What do you think of this place?
I love your choice of burger! I may try to make it myself.
I hope you do, that would be great!
The food looks amazing! That milkshake!
The milkshake was so good! I heard they use gelato instead of regular ice cream which is one of the reasons why it’s good.
The burgers do look pretty good, but the prices seem pretty crazy to me. If they included fries, that would be OK, but $5 for fries too? Yikes. The milkshakes seem pretty expensive too, although they do sound tasty. Ps. I love Universal City Walk! I was a tour guide for Universal Studios for a while 🙂
That’s what I thought too – I don’t know how much french fries cost to purchase but they’re potatoes, it can’t be that much! They should definitely throw them in for those prices.
The El Diablo sounds so good! I love spicy food and that sounds great. I wish it came w/ jalapenos though because that would make it really top-notch. 🙂 Do you know if they have vegetarian options? We are planning another trip to that area soon and would love to check it out but my husband is all veggie.
Yup, they have a veggie burger that actually sounds quite good! (Veggie Burger – topped with Tzatziki, Green Bean Salad, Lettuce, and Tomato)
I’d try it for the experience but that’s a hefty price for a burger! 🙂
That was my thought too – try it once, but I probably won’t be back on a regular basis!
