There are many different ways to interpret disneybounding, but I personally think some of them that I’ve seen are a bit too over-the-top or cross into the realm of costume. For me, the beauty (and challenge) of disneybounding is getting creative with everyday clothing.
That being said, I also think it’s totally okay to incorporate some more obvious character pieces! And of course, it’s all about how you approach it.
For the most part, I took a more subtle approach to my Buzz Lightyear disneybound overall, but added in a bag that was perhaps a bit more obvious.

Basics of a Buzz Lightyear disneybound
For a Buzz Lightyear disneybound, I think the color scheme is what is really going to help get the message across. You could probably do any combination of white, green, and purple! And while I didn’t use this approach, you could also add a touch of red to represent his buttons/wings.
It also helps to add any sort of space details. You could do this in a number of different ways (I went with jewelry).
Top & Shorts
I had a lime green shirt (I think I got it from Target) that I already owned, so I decided to use that as the base. Buzz has more green on top than bottom, but he does have green and white all throughout his outfit, so I also think you could switch it and do green bottoms with a white top if you own things that work better!
For the bottoms, I used a pair of white sequined shorts that I already owned (mine were from Unique Vintage). I had also thought about a white athletic skirt that I have, but decided the shorts were a little more fun.
Accessories
I always think that details are what really make a disneybound, so I added a few fun accessories.
For a touch of purple, I used a simple purple headband. I also added a space-themed necklace – this one had a planet, stars, and the moon.
Of course, the highlight of this disneybound is the bag. I have the Buzz Lightyear orbitkey sling bag, which was perfect for this outfit. It has the design of Buzz’s chestplate, with the buttons and logo. There’s also a purple strap.
This bag is a perfect size for the Disney parks, and can actually fit a lot more than you might expect! I also liked that I could wear it on my front or on my back. Either way, it worked well for the outfit!
Shoes are another area that you could add something on theme. I didn’t (I just had black flip flops), but white or green shoes would work well!
Tips for the perfect Buzz Lightyear disneybound
- If you’re dressing for cooler weather, you can add even more details and options to this outfit with layers. A purple cardigan or sweatshirt would be fun!
- A belt would also work well with this outfit, and a variety of colors could be good. White, green, purple, or even red matches Buzz Lightyear’s look.
- Have friends who might be interested in disneybounding? This is the perfect opportunity to do a group bound, as Woody, Jessie, and other Toy Story characters are pretty easy to do as well!
- The bag really made this one recognizable – if you don’t have something like that, you might choose another way to add a more obvious nod to the character, like themed ears.
