I’ve been experimenting with lots of different margaritas. La Cava del Tequila from the Epcot Mexico pavilion had been sharing recipes on their instagram, but there were some on the menu that I wanted to try that they didn’t share (or if they did, I missed it) – like this wild passion fruit margarita recipe.
I love anything passion fruit flavored, so I was excited to give this one a go. I created my own version based on the menu description, and experimented with the portion amounts. It turned out quite good! The only thing I didn’t do was the mango foam – that seemed like a whole different challenge, and I haven’t been a huge fan of the foam on drinks there anyway.
For the actual passion fruit, deciding how to tackle this was a little bit tricky. They tend to use purees in their margaritas, but I find them to be a bit too thick to work really well when making at home. My grocery store actually sold frozen passion fruit pulp, which is what I used. You could do a puree if you’d prefer though. I would definitely put it all in the blender regardless so it’s not too thick.
The Wild Passion Fruit Margarita Recipe:
Ingredients:
- 1.5 oz tequila
- .5 oz ginger liqueur
- 1/2 cup passion fruit pulp (or puree)
- 1 oz. mango nectar
- .5 oz lime juice
- Tajin for the rim
Directions: Add all ingredients (except tajin) to a blender and pulse until well blended. Prepare a margarita glass with a tajin rim. Pour margarita mix into glass and serve on the rocks if desired.
