What I’m Thankful For: Disney Style

November 27, 2013 by Becky 7 Comments

There are so many things in my life that I’m thankful for right now.  Family, friends, love, a great job, wonderful hobbies… I could just go on and on.  And it’s certainly the time of year to do that.  But one of the things in my life that makes me happiest, in all honest, is Disney.  It brings me so much joy in so many ways, and I thought I would share some of the things about Disney that I’m most thankful for.

Wonderful Music

Nothing lights a fire in my soul like music, and Disney music is some of my favorites to listen to.  It gets me through the happy times, when I just feel like getting up and dancing, and the sad times too.  I am super excited about the soundtrack for Frozen, which just came out this year, and very thankful that we are adding some great songs to the Disney collection!

Great Movies

It’s been a fantastic year for Disney movies, in my humble opinion.  Pixar brought us Monsters University, a prequel to one of my favorite Pixar films.  And while not quite as great as the original, it definitely did not disappoint.  Frozen was more fabulous than I could have hoped for, and Saving Mr. Banks blew me away.  Can’t wait to see what 2014 has in store!

My Disney Friends

It’s because of Disney, and the internet, that I’ve made so many new friends this past year.  Planning my wedding put me into a community of other Disney Brides, and in 2013 I got to meet many of them.  I went to a meet up in February where there were 15 of us.  I hosted a murder mystery party which 2 Disney friends attended.  I went down to Disney in June and in August to be a guest at two weddings of those Disney friends. I did a Color Run with a Disney friend.  I attended at at-home wedding reception that had about six other girls at it that I knew.  And one of my Disney friends and her husband even came to see the play that I was in last month.  I have never been more thankful for the incredible friends I’ve made, and I never would have found them if it wasn’t for Disney.

Unforgettable Memories

This one might be kind of cliche when it comes to Disney, but it’s true.  The things that I’ve experienced in Disney World are memories that will last a lifetime.  Even though I went 4 times so far this year (with one more trip to go in December!), each one was unique and unforgettable.  I will treasure all of the things I was able to do, and all of the pictures I have from it.

Forging Connections

Disney has been an awesome way to connect with new people that I meet.  I recently started a new job, and I tend to be a little nervous and shy around new people.  Well, on my second day of work I noticed that one of my co-workers was wearing a Magic Band.  I mentioned it and she was immediately talking about Disney – turned out she was a big fan too!  I instantly felt comfortable in my new job.  And even as I make new friends that aren’t as big Disney fans, Disney can still help.  A new friend I met hadn’t seen any of the recent Disney movies, so I got to introduce him to Princess and the Frog and Tangled, two of my favorites.  It was a fun experience that we got to share.

New and Unique Experiences

There are things you can do at Disney and because of Disney that you can’t do anywhere else.  I got to take a solo Disney trip, that was a really rewarding experience which helped me grow as a person.  And in August we did the Wild Africa Trek, something I never would have been able to experience outside of Disney World.  There are so many great unique Disney experiences that I created my own Disney Bucket List on this blog, and I look forward to checking off as many as possible in the coming years.

My Blog

If it wasn’t for Disney, well, obviously I wouldn’t have a blog.  And starting this blog this year is something I’m really glad I did.  I’ve had such a great time reaching out to other Disney fans and starting conversations with them.  I’ve discovered that I really love blogging, and I’m looking forward to seeing how I can grow the blog in the future.

So thank you, Disney, for making my life so full and wonderful!  And thank you to all of you, my blog readers!  You mean so much to me.  Have a fantastic holiday!

I’ve done a few different ones, but I usually buy a kit online. Everyone gets a role and has information that they need to get from others, as well as information to answer questions about themselves. The last one we did was a fairy tale one, so it was very Disney inspired. A ton of fun – maybe I could do a blog post about it!

Yay! I love Disney! It is such a part of my life too and I am glad that we will always be the “Fantastic 5” on the Disboard forums with Mr. Creepo. It was amazing that I finally got to meet you too and wish you lived closer!! 🙂
