WDW marathon training – week 10

Disney World Marathon Training (9)

How is it week 10 already??  Crazy.  I had my longest run in awhile this week.  11 miles.  And another busy weekend, so I did a little bit of switching up.  Instead of doing my long run at the end of week (on the weekend), I did it in the middle of the week.  I’ve so been looking forward to this weekend.  I really need the time off from work, but it’s also my 5 year wedding anniversary today and the closing weekend for my show.  So a very emotional weekend here and I didn’t need to add in 11 miles of running too!marathon week 10

Tuesday night was when I had time so that’s when it happened.  It actually worked out well because I did it in the evening and the weather was good and I was feeling really good.  It’s a great feeling because I know I’ll be in good shape for my next half marathon.  Because… the next time I do a long run will be 13.1 miles in Disneyland Paris!

marathon week 10 sun

Sunday I did one of my shorter runs outside in the evening.  We’d had a matinee performance that day so I was a little tired, but I still got it done.  At least waiting until after the sun goes down makes everything a lot cooler.

I did my 11 mile run on Tuesday.   It started off pretty rough to be honest and after the first 2 miles I stopped home real quick to take a decongestant and some pain killers.  That made a world of difference and the rest of the run felt great.  I’m super happy that I was able to keep at about a 12 min/mile pace.  It’s not the fastest I’ve done a half marathon but I’ll be very satisfied to stay around there for runs in the 10-13 mile range.  I know for the full marathon I’ll have to slow that pace down a bit but still, I’m very happy.

marathon week 10 fri

I did my last shorter run for the week on Friday afternoon.  I was planning to go to the gym as it’s usually way too hot outside lately, but it actually wasn’t bad.  I checked my weather app which said it was great running weather outside so I ran outside!  It did feel really nice and I actually got a little too excited about the weather because I started off way too fast.  But it was still a pleasant run.

And now that I’ve got my runs done I can relax and enjoy the Labor Day weekend!

How are you spending the 3 day weekend (if you have one)?
