The Style Evolution of Minnie Mouse

October 9, 2015 by Becky 18 Comments

I don’t know about you, but when I think about Minnie Mouse I picture her in her typical red dress with the white polka dots.  However, she’s had a number of different outfits and styles throughout the years.  Some of them I recognize and some I don’t!  The folks over at HalloweenCostumes.com put together this really cool infographic showing how her style has grown and changed since the beginning.

I’m usually all for the vintage versions, but I actually love the 2013 version! They blended the original and modern versions so well there, and its absolutely adorable. I’m planning to get the 2013 Mickey Cartoons (the around the world DVD) for my son for Christmas because he is obsessed with Mickey 🙂

I think the 2013 version looks pretty cool too!

I think my favorites are 35-50’s and 1986, 86 because that’s what I remember more from my childhood.

86 is what I remember the most too. I wasn’t born til 88 but I think she kept that look for quite awhile.

I personally dig 1988 because I had folders and a Trapper Keeper with her on it that I keep my Lisa Frank stationery in!

It’s so good she made a comeback, Minnie is way to fabulous to fade 🙂

Wow. I didn’t realize there were so many versions of Minnie! I absolutely loved her when I was little, and my mom even made us matching Red and White Polka dot dresses for Halloween one year. I’ll have to see if I can find the photo!

Love this! The look I grew up with her having is closest to 1986. Fun post, I would love to see this on more Disney characters.

I would love to see that too – the characters have definitely grown and evolved throughout the years.

Is it just me, or is the Minnie of the 1990s-2000s depressing? She looks like Homeless Minnie. Ha! Glad Disney changed things up a bit. My favorite is the polka-dot clad Minnie of 1986. Cheers!

Haha, she kind of does! Maybe it’s because that picture looks so sad.

What a change, almost like a yo yo between modern and classic.
