The cost to travel to Disney every month in 2021

November 17, 2020 by Becky 2 Comments

A breakdown of the cost to travel to Disney every month in 2021:

One of the most common questions I’m asked as a Disney travel agent is “when is the best time to visit Disney World?” And that answer depends on a variety of things, including what “best” means to you. Is it the weather? The price? The special events happening? There are lots of things to consider, but for many it comes down to cost. The best way to consider cost is to actually look at numbers, right? That’s why I decided to put this information together with real prices of the cost to travel to Disney every month in 2021.

Keep in mind that prices are subject to availability. If things start to book up for a certain month, Disney may increase prices. If they don’t, they may offer more discounts. It’s pretty much always better to book as early as you can – read about why here in this post on “why you shouldn’t wait for a discount.”

Discounts have currently been released for January-April. I included both the “rack rate” and the discounted rate for these months. While the rest of the months don’t have discounts yet, most of them will probably see some sort of deal which you can always apply after booking. So if you’re strictly looking to compare month to month, I’d look at the non-discounted rate.

I priced out three different resorts for this comparison – a value (Pop Century), a moderate (Coronado Springs), and a deluxe (Yacht Club). For each one I chose the cheapest room available at that resort. These prices are all for a Saturday through Sunday for a week without any major events or holidays, for 2 adults and 2 children (ages 6 and 8), and with 4 day park tickets without park hoppers.

If you’re looking for your own comparison I’m happy to help you plan and book your vacation – as a travel agent I can get you the best prices, apply discounts that become available, and provide my advice for your trip (and it’s all free for you!). Conclusions

Cheapest and most expensive months

The cheapest months to go are February and September. The most expensive months are March, October, and December. This lines up with what we’ve been seeing for the past several years. Some people are surprised by October being expensive, but it’s become known as a month for good weather, the Food and Wine Festival, and the Halloween Party – and in 2021, it will also be the month that the 50th anniversary celebration begins.

Value resorts

If you are looking at a value resort, the difference from month to month isn’t as drastic as at more expensive resorts. The difference between the most expensive month and the cheapest month is $429. While this is not insignificant, if you have a little flexibility the difference isn’t too bad.

Deluxe resorts

For people looking to stay at a deluxe resort, the difference in rates is obviously more significant. The difference between the most expensive and cheapest months for Yacht Club is $1,405. So if you are hoping to stay at a deluxe resort but also looking to save money, I would definitely try to shoot for February or September.

Holidays

Of course none of these dates include things like major holidays or school breaks. March is almost certainly the most expensive month because so many schools have spring breaks and people like to travel. Keep in mind that if you are limited to only going during these dates your cost will be significantly higher. The week between Christmas and New Year’s is always the most expensive of the year.

Discounts

Discounts are typically offered for all 4 seasons (winter, spring, summer, and fall), though the amounts and dates vary. Holidays are typically blacked out as are more popular months, like most of October and some of November and December. Especially at a moderate or deluxe resort, getting a discount can save a lot of money. Keep in mind that even if you book early, you can apply any discounts that become available even after you’ve booked.

This is really helpful when trying to plan a vacation! My family has decided to cancel our 2021 trip and push it off to 2022 instead, but I know a lot of people are interested in visiting in October for the 50th!

Cost and weather are always some of the biggest factors when my family visits Disney! My favorite time to go is late September or early October. I don’ think we are going to end up going this year because of the pandemic but are shooting for 2021/2022. Thanks for this cost guide, it’s been really helpful!
