This is the 19th Stitch Fix that I’ve received since I started getting them back in September 2014. I usually only keep one or two clothing items, but I’ve obviously been pleased with the service to get it for so long! If you’re not familiar, Stitch Fix is a subscription box service that has you fill out a style profile survey, and then they send you 5 clothing items to try on – you decide what to keep and what to send back!
Julie has been my stylist since the beginning (aside from one fix when she was on maternity leave) and she’s done a great job getting to know me but also getting me to try different things as well. This time around I asked for some shirts and dresses – but no dresses with elastic waistbands, since I’ve found that doesn’t really work for me. Let’s take a look at what Julie sent!
Renee C Revill Crew Neck Blouse – $48
This is a bold pattern, but I rather liked it. However, I wasn’t crazy about the way that the shirt fit. It was really cute in the back – there was a slit in the back and it was a hi-lo sort of design. However, this shirt probably needed to be more fitted or something for me. This is a little weird to describe but bear with me. Chances are you’ll know what I’m talking about. It’s one of those shirts that hits your boobs, and then never curves back in but just kind of hangs at the same distance that your boobs stick out, which is not a particularly flattering silhouette. Returned.
LILA RYAN Avianna Cropped Denim Jacket – $78
Apparently the 90’s are back! It’s been a long time since I put on a jean jacket. The one that I had back in elementary school was also covered in awesome(?) patches. I was cool, yo. Anyway, I actually liked this a little more than I expected to. The cropped look is cool, but I just don’t think denim jackets are really my style anymore. And the sleeves were a little short when my arms weren’t down by my sides. I’m glad to have tried it though, since I love Stitch Fix for pushing me outside of my comfort zone! Returned.
Loveappella Atherton Lace Sleeve Knit Top – $48
I was super on the fence about this one because it’s cute, and it fits well, but it’s also a bit plain for a $48 shirt. It was very soft and fit well, and the sleeves and very cute. It matched the skirt it came with. Ultimately I decided not to keep it due to both the price and the color. I have a lot of navy blue in my closet already, and not a ton of bottoms that match well with navy blue. Returned.
Loveappella Livia Crochet Detail Skirt – $48
I liked some things about this skirt but not others. I really liked the colors – it was a dark gold with navy blue and white, which are colors you don’t see combined all that often. But ultimately I decided to pass on this skirt. It was a little on the short side, and I wasn’t crazy about the crochet detail. As someone who works in a library, I want to try and avoid that “old lady librarian” look, haha. Although it doesn’t stop me from wearing cardigans all the time. Returned.
Skies are Blue Stacy Knit Swing Dress – $58
So I wasn’t totally blown away by this dress, but this is the item I ended up keeping. It’s a color that’s a little bit different than other stuff in my closet, and it fit well. I also think it will be a good dress for fall, and one that can transition to winter. I could definitely see adding some leggings, boots, and a sweater to have a dress I can wear in the winter too! Kept.
Overall this fix felt a little bit underwhelming, but I think I’m just being more picky. The shirts, dress, and skirt are all my style in terms of patterns. But I’ve been spending a bit more lately and didn’t want to spend the money for something I was only so-so on. I think the dress is comfy enough that I’ll be wearing it a lot, so it’s a good investment!

What was your favorite thing in my Stitch Fix box this time around?
I don’t think you are being more picky. This shipment was my least favorite.
Yeah, it was definitely a bit different tan the usual.
I like the burgundy dress you have on! I am just surprised at how high the prices are of these…
Yeah, the prices are fairly high. But they are well made and I really like having someone else style me so it’s worth it a bit.
*digs in my closet and pulls out my old jean jacket*
Hey look I’m fashionable! First time ever lol.
Haha right? I wouldn’t even have known if it wasn’t for Stitch Fix.
Love the lace top and the dress! I get StitchFix fairly regularly, but tend to just get the same old stuff (in just diff patterns) for an arm and a leg per piece. I’ve only kept a handful of items over the years!
I would be a little disappointed if I was basically getting the same stuff! I could understand why you’d only keep a couple of things.
The dress is super cute, definitely a good one to keep! I love the skirt too but I can definitely see wanting to stay away from the “old lady” details. 😉
Thanks! I can’t wait to wear the dress!
I love stitch fix! I need to start it up again.
It’s always an exciting day for me when it comes in the mail!
Good choice on the dress – it was definitely the winner of the bunch! Looks cute with the denim jacket, too.
Thanks very much, Sheila!
Love the striped dress! I also liked the denim jacket on you, if you decide to ever buy one, Kohl’s Croft & Barrow brand has a nice one. I got one for $20, wore it a ton over the spring. It washes nicely and has held up so far.
Ooh that’s a good thing to know! I’d definitely like to buy a cheaper one to try out the style!
I really like the first top but I TOTALLY feel you on fit. Sometimes that style works really well and sometimes it just hangs so strangely.
I like the dress you kept though. It looks super cozy!

Thanks – I’m excited to wear the dress, I think it will be a good transition one for fall!
