Runner’s Guide: Running Skirt from Run Princess Run

August 13, 2015 by Becky 21 Comments

Run PRincess Run

I have another great running skirt shop to share with you all today.  It’s called Run Princess Run, and she makes some really adorable Disney skirts that can be used for any of the Disney races.  I was sent the Maleficent skirt to review.

To begin with, I pretty much love all of the designs in her shop.  I like the amount of variety she has too – there are definitely your princesses, but also other Disney characters (like Maleficent and Dopey), Star Wars skirts, and Avengers.  Her skirts all look like they have so much detail – many of them have glitter, bows, and layered fabric to perfectly reproduce the look of that character.

I let Ashley decide which skirt to send me, and I was pretty excited to see Maleficent.  I will be the first to admit that I’m usually more of a princess girl, but this skirt is just gorgeous.  I never really thought about doing a villain costume, but now that I have this I think I will have to!

I think the material that she uses is really nice, and different than a lot of other running skirts.  In appearance on my skirt it almost has a “black leather” look, which is perfect for Maleficent.  It’s also very lightweight and nice for running.  I wore it on a practice run this week over a pair of shorts, and could hardly feel it at all.  No chafing or anything either like you sometimes get from tutus.

But of course the best part is the glitter!  I love that she was able to add some fun color to the skirt, for a character whose outfit is mostly black.  There is purple, pink, and green, the exact shades to represent Maleficent.  And total coincidence, but I had just applied new Jamberry nails the day before – they happened to match this skirt perfectly!  I guess I know what nails I’m doing when I get an occasion to wear it.

Speaking of which, I’m now strongly thinking that if I get into the Disneyland Paris half marathon I will now go as Maleficent!  I can’t not use this skirt for the Disney race, and the only other one I’m planning right now is Princess in February, and for that one I do really want to go as a Princess.  I wish they would bring back the Tower of Terror 10 miler because that would be perfect, but I’m thinking Paris would work well too – after all, it does have Sleeping Beauty’s castle!

What do you think?  Make sure you check out the Run Princess Run shop to get a look at all of the other gorgeous skirts available there!

I know, right? The one good thing about going as a Villain during princess weekend is that everyone is going to be princesses, so you’ll be more unique if you pick a villain!

How fun! I love great running skirts. I’m a firm believe that fun workout clothes give me more motivation to work out more often. This would be wonderful for my next race. I still need to do some training, but I’d love to try it out. I wonder if they make any small enough for little kids. I have nieces that are just getting into running and they would love it!

I totally agree with you! I don’t wear skirts like this on training runs very often because I don’t want to get weird looks, but wearing this one definitely motivated me more. Most of the Etsy sellers that make these skirts are very willing to do customizable stuff, so I would imagine if you wanted a kids size they would be able to do that for you!

Thank you! It’s the first time they are holding this half marathon so I have no idea what the process to get in will be like!

I love this skirt so cool. I’m going to have to check out her shop. I want a Star Wars skirt! We’re having a theme party in October, so it would be perfect. Thanks for sharing.

I love love this skirt. I also love that jamberry pattern I just had it on a few weeks ago. I never really thought about doing a villain outfit either, but I’m totally into the purple sparkles so it definitely works.
