I am extremely excited to present the first review of an Etsy shop from my Disney Etsy Holiday Gift Guide! And not only do I have a review of an fantastic item for you, I also have a giveaway so you can get your very own Rock City Skirt 🙂
I was never the athletic type growing up. One of the most dreaded days of the school year was when we had to do the mile run, because I did not like running. I dreaded it. Fast forward to when I got out of college. I needed a way to exercise and had no money for a gym membership – so running seemed the obvious choice, though I remembered how much I had hated it back in high school. Nevertheless, I told myself I would start slowly – mostly walking, with some jogging thrown in.
And I realized when I wasn’t being forced to run for school and do a mile in a certain amount of time, it was actually somewhat enjoyable! I jogged several times a week before my wedding to lose weight, and then have been doing it (for the most part) ever since. And then I did something I never thought I would do. I signed up for a race. A Disney race, of course! I’m now registered for the Enchanted 10k at Disney World during the Princess race weekend next February.
There is nothing to motivate you like a Disney race! Of course, one of the most fun parts of the preparations has been deciding on an outfit. My favorite Princess is Belle, so that was a no brainer. But how to come up with an outfit that would look cute but also be comfortable to run in? When I saw Rock City Skirts, I thought it would be the perfect solution.
Sure enough, when mine arrived in the mail I was really pleased with it. It is well made, with an elastic waistband that has some give and take. That way if your running causes you to lose weight you can still wear your skirt! I love the material, and how sparkly it is. Perfect for a princess, and I know it will be great for a Disney race.
I also wore it out on one of my runs during the week to try it out. I put it on over my running pants, and it is so light that you can’t even tell it’s there. I was wondering if that would still be the case while I was running, and indeed it was. The skirt stayed put but was so light and airy that I didn’t notice it at all. You do have to wear shorts under it, by the way – the skirts are somewhat see through and rather short 😉
I am super excited to be able to wear my skirt for the Enchanted 10k in a few months! I will also visit Rock City skirts for future running costumes. They have lots of Disney inspired skirts, and even if you don’t see what you want there is a design your own option – so odds are good that Amy will make it happen for you! As they say, if you can dream it, you can do it 😉
And now you can have the chance to WIN your very own Rock City skirt! The winner of this giveaway will get to choose any skirt ($25 value). Visit the site now to see the variety of styles they have! All you have to do to enter is to fill out the rafflecopter form in the link below. The contest will close at 11:59pm on Sunday, October 13th. The winner will receive an email about winning, and the winner will also be announced on the blog! Prizes will be provided by Rock City Skirts. Disney in your Day is not responsible for the sending and receiving of prizes.
So cute! I also DREADED the mile run in school. Augh– worst day ever!
I know! I never thought I’d actually be doing a mile (and more!) of my own accord!
Belle is my favorite Disney princess.
Mine too!
I love Sleeping Beauty!
She is a classic!
Ariel is my favorite princess- she has been since I was little- and the funny thing is I grew up to have a red headed little girl who can swim like crazy! Lol!
Aww, that is so sweet! Your own little Ariel!
I’m doing the Royal Family 5k and Princess Half that weekend! The green skirt would be perfect for my ariel costume!
That is awesome! Good luck with the half! I’ll be doing the one race you’re not doing, haha. A bunch of my friends are doing the Glass Slipper (10k and the Half), but as a beginner runner that sounded like a bit too much for me!
I love how these fit! Thanks for the review!
You’re welcome! They are really great skirts!
I’ll see you during Princess Weekend!!! I am also doing Wine and Dine in a few weeks, so very excited for that one!
Oooh, exciting! I would like to do Wine and Dine in the future!
I’ll be running my second Disney 1/2 marathon in January – these skirts are adorable – I’d love to be rocking one of them!!!
That is awesome! I really think these skirts are perfect for Disney races!
I haven’t run a Disney race, but would like to in the near future! They all sounds like tons of fun and the pics I see from all my running friends are just AWESOME! Thanks for hosting the giveaway! I own one Rock City Skirt and I absolutely LOVE IT. Would love to add to my collection!
You should definitely try to do a Disney race in the future if you can. Though the one in February will be my first, I’ve heard so many great things that I absolutely can’t wait!!
I havent done a Disney race yet. I would like to do the Tower of Terror 10 mile race next year!!
I would like to do the 10 miler as well!
I ran in Tower of Terror when it was a 13K race and also Princess Half this year. I see many more in my future, love Disney races!
I’m hoping that are many in my future as well!
I haven’t run a Disney race but I really want to.
If you get the chance to, definitely do it!
I love Disney races–I’ve done the marathon, the half, the goofy challenge and this year I’m doing the dopey challenge (5k, 10k, half, full)! They are so fun!!!
Wow, that is impressive! Good luck with the Dopey Challenge!
I haven’t been to Disney race yet but I’m looking to it in the near future.I just started running so I going to go slow and start from the bottom.
That’s been my approach too. I’ve done a few 5k’s around here and then in Disney I will do the 10k. Then maybe in another year or two I will try a half marathon!
I’ve run a bunch of Disney races and they’re so much fun! The two halfs I ran in Disneyland rank as my all time most fun races. Although really the race is just an excuse for a vacation 🙂
That’s the best kind of race – the kind that you can turn into a vacation! 😉
I’m running my first Disney race and visiting Disney for the first time on my 27th birthday for Tink!
What a great way to celebrate a birthday!
I’ve done the Princess, wine and dine, and chip and dale relay. All so much fun!
That is great! I really hope more Disney races are in my future.
I’ve run in every WDW race weekend since Princess of 2011 and I’m signed up through Princess of 2014! and then my first DL race was this past Dumbo one! The Disney races are like no other– they are so much fun!! You’re going to love it!!
Wow, that’s incredible! You are getting me so excited for this race!
i have not…i sooo sooo want to run a disney race. I have several on my bucket list!
Great! Is there any Disney race in particular at the top of your bucket list?
I haven’t run a runDisney race yet but hope to do so next February. *fingers crossed*
Awesome, hope you get to do it!
