I don’t know about you, but one of my favorite things to eat in the summer is a good salad. I like a lighter option in the heat, but still something with enough substance that it’s filling. I eat a salad almost every day, and my husband and I are constantly trying to come up with creative new salad combinations. This one was something a little bit different that we both really enjoyed!
I actually made a big batch of it to bring to a party, and it was a hit there too. With all the burgers, hot dogs, and chips that are around at summer gatherings, it’s nice to have a salad option too. I kept the Litehouse dressing in a cooler so it would stay nice and fresh for the party. I like to serve this salad with both the chunky bleu cheese and the homestyle ranch dressing so people have options. I prefer bleu cheese with this salad myself but I know it can be acquired taste for some, so homestyle ranch is another great option!
When it comes to salad dressings you can toss or drizzle, but the most important thing is the quality of your dressing. That’s why I love Litehouse dressings – they are made with fresh ingredients like real blue cheese! If you’re looking for Litehouse dressings at your grocery store check the produce section – it’s kept in the refrigerated section, where real dressing should be. I have to say, it’s pretty unappealing to have a room temperature salad dressing on a nice fresh salad, especially on a warm summer day. Fresh, refrigerated, and delicious dressings is where it’s at! #SeetheLite
Ingredients:
- Arugula mix (or your choice of salad base)
- bacon
- tomatoes
- pears
- pecans
- Litehouse chunky bleu cheese dressing (or homestyle ranch if you prefer)
Directions:
Start my cooking the bacon. You can always leave the bacon out if you’re looking for a vegetarian dish, but I prefer it to make things a little more filling. Pat away any extra grease and crumble bacon.
Prep your salad ingredients by slicing tomatoes and pears. Crumble pecans if you prefer them that way, or leave them whole.
Assemble salad. Start with the arugula mix and add bacon, tomatoes, pears, and pecans.
Toss with Litehouse chunky bleu cheese dressing, or drizzle it onto your salad. Enjoy!

What is your favorite kind of salad? What’s your favorite salad dressing?
Do you think this would taste good without the nuts? I can’t eat them.
Yeah absolutely! I would consider adding croutons or something like that to give it a little extra crunch, but that’s just me 🙂
I’m vegetarian but think I will try this recipe without bacon. It looks like a really appealing mix of flavors.
I think it will work really well without the bacon!
I love the refreshing taste of a salad, especially during the summer months! I’ve always been unsure about fruit in salads, is that weird? It just seems like the two don’t mesh but everyone seems to love it, so I’m the odd one out there. This dressing sounds delicious though! My favorite is a classic ranch 🙂
I do love fruit in salads 🙂 But I’d say if you wanted to try it pear might actually be a good place to start, because it’s not an overly sweet fruit, like a salad with strawberries or something (though my personal favorite Panera salad is the one with strawberries, blueberries, and pineapple in it haha!)
This looks amazing! I love a good salad in the summer as well. That dressing looks amazing as well!
Thanks, summer salads are the best!
Thanks for offering the option of two salad dressings. I have never acquired a taste for bleu cheese and hate it when I’m offered a salad with the bleu cheese dressing already on it.
I agree, that’s why I always prefer to serve the dressing on the side – people have many different tastes!
Fresh salad on a hot summer day is perfect.
I totally agree, it’s my go-to 🙂
I’ve been looking for a summer salad. Thanks for sharing!

Yum! Pears and pecans, what a good combination! Looks delicious:-)
Yes, they seemed to go really well together!
Looks like such a delicious salad! Salads are my favorite in the summer time too and this one looks amazing.
Thanks! I agree, I love salad in the summertime 🙂
Mmmmmm, I bet that blue cheese goes so well with the pears!
I certainly think it does!
I love trying different things in my salads. I love a burst of flavor and new mixes. I’ve never consider pears before.
I love fruit in my salads but usually do apple or strawberries, so I decided to switch it up with pears!
That looks delish! I’ve been on a big salad kick this pregnancy. I’ve literally had three salads today LOL
Haha that’s awesome – out of all the things you could crave salads are probably the best for you!
yum! i’m going to try this for lunch
I hope you enjoy it!
Yes I love salads too, adding fruits like apples, pears, grapefruit etc adds a lot of flavor too.

Ooh I haven’t tried grapefruit in a salad yet – I need to add that to my list!
This is my kind of salad! I love blue cheese and vinaigrettes.
Yes they’re delicious!
I really love salads that incorporate sweet fruit flavors with tart unexpected flavors – this looks perfect!
Yes, I like the unexpected in my salads as well!
Love all the ingredients in this salad, but I never thought of mixing them together. Will try this one out
If you try it, let me know what you think!
It really depends on what I am eating , but overall I would choose ranch. I use ranch on so much more than salad.
I think a lot of people feel that way. Ranch is pretty classic!
