I know a lot of the people that read my blog are runners, so I wanted to share what I’ve found works best for me when it comes to running clothes/gear on my daily runs. I might do something different for races, when I’m doing a cool costume, but for everyday use here are my favorites!
Shirt – Raw Threads tank
They are a little pricey, but Raw Threads definitely makes my favorite running shirts. They are so soft! I like the tank tops for summer. And they have so many cute Disney related designs – right now I’m loving the “Castle to Castle” one since I’m training for the Disneyland Half marathon which will get me my coast to coast medal!
Sports bra – C9 Champion from Target
I’m not super picky with sports bras because I always double up on them for extra support. I’ve found the C9 ones from Target work well, are a decent price, and come in fun colors!
Bottoms – Any shorts with pockets
I’m not picky about my shorts in the summer, but I love it when they have pockets! Though I’ll use a flipbelt to hold my stuff on longer runs, on my short runs it’s so much easier to have pockets that I can just slip my key and iPod into. I have a pair similar to these ones on Amazon: Asics Women’s Core Pocketed Short, Steel, Medium
Socks – Vitalsox compression socks
I love compression socks for my longer runs because they really help with my calf muscles. I’ve tried a bunch of brands but my favorite is Vitalsox. They come in fun colors and they fit me just right – I’ve tried others that were too tight or too loose. I also buy them from Amazon: Vitalsox Graduated Compression VT1211 Performance Patented Training, Race, and Recovery Socks Pairs with DryStat (Black, Medium)
Sneakers – New Balance Minimal/Lightweight
I always go in willing to try one different brands, and I always end up with New Balance shoes. I tend to favor minimalist shoes because I like how light they feel. I also got blisters from heavier shoes.
Headband – Sparkly Soul
I love headbands! There are so many good kinds out there with fun Disney related patterns, but after trying out a ton I have to say that Sparkly Soul is my favorite. They come in many sparkly colors and the fit is just right for me. Other headbands tend to be too loose and slip, but these never move!
Other items always with me:
Camelbak water bottle – I love this because it’s easy to take a sip on the go, and I always have water with me! CamelBak Eddy Water Bottle, Sky Blue, 1-Liter
Frogg Togg – when it’s hot out having this cool towel is a lifesaver. Frogg Toggs Chilly Pad Evaporative, Cooling, Snap Towel
iPod – I would be bored to death without my running music!
Fitbit Surge – I use the GPS feature to track all of my runs! Fitbit Surge Fitness Superwatch, Black, Small
What are your go-to running items and outfits during the summer?
I haven’t been into running as much this summer, but still do like to fit in at least one run per week with my workouts! Still love the feeling of it. Thanks for the tips!
It’s definitely harder to run when it’s so hot during the summer, but still getting in one run a week is great!
Everyone underestimates the importance of compression socks! So glad you added them to your list!
I agree! Once I discovered them it made a huge difference!
I love love love those headbands!! I will have to get some and try them. I always have trouble with headbands sliding off my head.
Yes, definitely try these out! The first time I wore one I was paranoid that it was slipping off because it was so light I could hardly feel it – but after my run it hadn’t moved an inch!
Target is my go-to for everything! I own a few of those sport bras and i really enjoy them. 🙂
I agree, Target and Amazon are often where I go for workout gear!
I love the C9 brand at Target. It is seriously the best. It is comfortable, stylish and affordable!
Exactly! And they have good sales on them sometimes too!
