May 2022 blog updates
The past few months have been pretty much the opposite of what I set out to do in the beginning of the year. When I initially wrote my goals in January, I was feeling a bit overwhelmed and aiming to find more balance in my life. Well, recently I hate to admit that it’s only gotten worse, with me feeling more overwhelmed than ever and exhausted at the end of every day. I have been neglecting some of the things that truly bring me joy (including actually writing blog posts!). But I figured it’s never too late to re-group and reanalyze my goals and figure out what I can do to hopefully get in a better spot for the rest of the year.
I had been writing a goals post every month for years – I’m not sure I’d ever missed a month before, and now I missed two in a row. The last one I wrote was in February, so I went back to that to take a look. I think the best way to start right now is just to see what makes sense to focus on and what I need to let go right now.
Looking back at my February 2022 goals:
Write 3 blog posts per week
For now, I’m going to aim for 2 blog posts per week. Ideally I’d like to get back to 3 a week by the end of the year, but it’s best to start with more manageable goals.
Launch my Genie+ planning printables
This is actually one that I did complete, and it’s been going well – but updating the printables and responding to all the messages I get about them are one of the things that’s taking up a lot more time than I anticipated. I really hope they are useful and helpful to people though, because I know how overwhelming Genie+ can be!
Stick to my weekly blog checklist
I barely even touched them and I think I’m only going to focus on a few things for now. As much as I’d like to promote in lots of places and do social media, I don’t have much to share if I’m not producing content here.
Send 2 emails to my blog newsletter
I think I only managed 1 per month. I’m going to focus on 1 per month for now and up it to 2 hopefully soon.
Update 2 old blog posts
I haven’t been focusing on this much, but I am trying to update things a bit as I come across them. I really want to make this a priority, but things have been changing at Disney so much and I have so much content it feels a bit overwhelming.
Finish the special project I’m working on
Unfortunately this one involves working with someone else, which adds another level of difficulty. Ideally I do want to finish it within the next few months though.
Create a job description to start the process of hiring someone to help me with blog stuff
I actually have someone who has started helping me with a few small things, so I’d like to train him and teach him a bit more – and then maybe look into bringing on someone else for social media stuff.
Launch my new facebook page
Honestly, ever since Facebook deleted my blog page without explanation this one has felt very discouraging. And it turns out I’m surviving okay so far without a blog facebook page.
Meal plan and prep each week
I didn’t do this for the past two months, but I did go shopping and start this weekend so maybe this month will be better.
Do foam rolling at least once a week
I’m so bad about it but I know it’s important. I think I maybe did it twice in the past 2 months.
Be in bed by 11:30 at least 3 nights a week
I was staying up wayyy too late through about mid-April trying to get everything done, and it all just hit me. I’ve been much better since Easter about this and it makes a huge difference.
Read 4 books
I’m definitely behind on 4 books per month but I’ve still been reading so I’ll take the win there.
Finish cleaning my home office
Also on the backburner – the priority has now been spring cleaning and reorganizing my closet.
At least contact several therapists for info/availability
I reached out to one and couldn’t get anything scheduled and I gave up. So not doing great there I guess.
Schedule at least 2 fun or relaxing things for myself
I’ve been bad about this too. I did take a day off to go to Longwood Gardens recently, which was nice. I need to do more of that sort of thing for my mental health.
So with all of that, I’m going to create what are hopefully some more manageable goals for the month of May and just do the best I can!
May 2022 blog goals:
- Write 2 blog posts per week
- Send 1 email to my blog newsletter
- Update 2 old blog posts
- Set up at least 1 meeting about my project
- Make training videos for the people helping me right now
May 2022 personal goals:
- Foam roll at least once a week
- Continue to be in bed by 11:30pm the latest at least 3 nights a week
- Finish organizing my closet
- Schedule something fun for myself this month
- Set up “office hours” for my travel agent work
It is a wise decision to realize that you need to take more time for yourself and your emotional health!
