Well, the people have spoken – and we are now at round 3 of the Disney villains tournament!
There were a lot of close match-ups this time around, but there were also some upsets I wasn’t expecting! This isn’t the final 8 that I would have predicted, but it’s still pretty solid. The first one really threw me, to be honest. Yzma beating Maleficent? For many people I know that Maleficent is the first person they thing of when they think of the epitome of “Disney villain.” I guess it just goes to show that people really appreciate humor when it comes to Disney villains.
I was also very surprised to see Dr. Facilier beat out Ursula! I personally love Dr. Facilier (he’s one of my favorite villains), but I know Ursula is very popular and a favorite of a lot of people. The race between Mother Gothel and Lady Tremaine was really close. While I personally find Mother Gothel a more terrifying villain (she’s very psychologically manipulating), Lady Tremaine is pretty evil as well. Again I was a little surprised to see Hades beat out a more classic Disney villain, but again I think the humor really plays a big part.
And it only gets harder from here. Jafar or Scar? How can I possibly choose? Frollo vs. Hades is a hard match-up for me as well – I find Frollo to be one of the most evil villains out there, possibly my top choice for “most evil,” and yet Hades is a great character and has the comedy element going for him. There are some tough decisions to be made, and I’m curious to see how the votes go.

Ooh, these are great 8 although I too am surprised at Yzma making it here.
I don’t recognize all of these Disney villains, I guess my kids are too old!
I think I’m voting Hades because he’s one of my favorites – not because he’s more evil. Same with Yzma (who may be my favorite villain of all time). And Scar IS pure evil, whereas Jafar … well, he didn’t kill his own brother, so there’s that haha!
This is so fun! Scar is the worst for me so he’s still in it.
