Loot Crate Review – October 2014

My friend gets the subscription box Loot Crate, which is full of great geeky stuff every month.  I haven’t done a post about it yet, so I figured now would be a good time.  He got his October box early (apparently there had been a mistake and they shipped some of the boxes early), so if you subscribe this may be new to you.  The theme this month was Fear, something which neither of us were super excited about – but the box turned out to be better than we thought!

The book this month came with the old fashioned red and blue 3D glasses – and the front cover and some of the pages inside were done in the old 3D style.

Exciting this month was the fact that a t-shirt was included.  The design is hilariously awesome.  My friend stated that he both “wanted to wear it all the time and yet never wanted to wear it.”  It’s particularly funny for him because he’s highly allergic to cats, while I love them.

There was also a book – How to Survive a Sharknado.  It’s a pretty funny spoof book.

Also included was a chainsaw/hammer that is apparently also a pen.  It looks pretty cool, and came in a nice box.  Though I will admit that neither of us could figure out how to get the top off of the pen.  So we still need to work on that.

As they often do, Loot Crate included a candy that goes along with the theme.  It was a “Toxic Waste” sour lemon candy.  Apparently it was very sour and rather unpleasant.

Also fun – zombie bite tattoos!  If you want to make it look like you’ve been bitten by a zombie, just apply one of these temporary tattoos somewhere on your body.

A print of art was included as well.  It was by an artist that neither of us were familiar with.  This wasn’t really our thing but it’s  a fun style if you’re into that!

Finally, a Loot Crate exclusive version of a Walking Dead comic.  We didn’t open this yet so I didn’t get the chance to look through it.

And as always a button with the theme was included!

I don’t calculate a value for Loot Crate because there are so many exclusive items – but it did seem like you got a lot for your money this month.  The t-shirt and the book were definitely highlights for us.

Do you subscribe to Loot Crate?  What do you think of this month’s box?
