I will admit that for whatever reason, I’ve been having a rough time the past week or two. Everything is going fine, but sometimes that anxiety kicks in and makes you question everything you feel and think. I know many people have issues with anxiety, so you might relate to the feelings of “am I good enough?”, “what am I actually doing with my life?”, and “what if everyone secretly hates me?”. Or even just the feeling of your heart racing, like the way it would if you were about to stand up and give a big speech, but for no reason at all.
Basically, anxiety sucks, and one of the ways I deal with it is by trying to tell myself things to pump me back up. I know it sounds pretty cheesy, but I will literally tell myself “You are strong.” “Don’t let this beat you.” Or even, “you’re a tough cookie.”
The other thing that helps me when my anxiety is high is to belt out a good song. And obviously I love me some Disney music! And Disney movies are a great source for inspiration. I really do start to feel a little better just reading some of these things, or relating to what the characters struggled with. So I wanted to share some of my favorite inspirational Disney quotes.
I didn’t want to just pick things that I felt were like, “You’re awesome!” or other more generic inspirational quotes. I wanted to pick quotes that really spoke to me. A lot of them are about struggle, and finding your place in life, because that’s usually when I feel like I need the biggest boost. So all of these are ones that, for one reason or another, resonate with me.
I also purposely tried to stick to all Disney films, and slightly lesser known quotes (Hakuna Matata is great one for me to try and let go of my worries but I know you’ve seen that before!). So hopefully these are ones that you might not know off the top of your head, but you remember them once you read it. Or maybe you haven’t seen the film (or not in awhile) and it’s inspired you to watch it again!
I also decided, at least in this post, not to include any Walt Disney quotes. That man is a huge source of inspiration and has tons of great quotes, but I figured maybe that could be a post all to itself someday!
You might also notice that most of them are from more current films (at least in the past 20 years or so). I think the older movies definitely have some good quotes, but these ones deal with more realistic struggles and focus more on the emotions of the characters.
If one of these quotes in particular seems to speak to you, please use it. Print it out and hang it next to your desk. Pin it on Pinterest. Share it on facebook. Whatever it takes to make you have a slightly better day!
Which quote is your favorite? Is there not on here that you like?
The Lion King one has always been one of my favourites. Also, though not animated, I’ve always loved the line from Mary Poppins: “Anything can happen if you let it”

Oh that is a good one too! Mary Poppins has a lot of great quotes.
Just the motivation I needed to finish this week! Great quotes to live by! 🙂
Glad they could help you out a little!
I love the Pocahontas quote!
Me too, it’s just so darn true!
Thanks for sharing! I love Disney movies and always find them SUPER inspirational!
I do too! If I’m feeling down a Disney movie can get me feeling better 🙂
Love these. I deal with anxiety a lot, so these were great to read. The one from Wreck It Ralph was my favorite. Love that movie too.
I’m such a fan of Wreck-it Ralph. A great story but a really important message too.
Disney really is SO inspirational! This post made me happy 🙂
It makes me happy to know that this made you happy! 🙂
Aww loved this post, Disney movies always lift me up when I need some inspiration. I love the Pocahontas one!!
La Belle Sirene
Glad I could lift you up a little! I love that one too 🙂
Becky, I hope you’ve been able to find some sunshine and kick that anxiety to the kerb this week.
Rafiki is a wise baboon indeed. I love that scene with Simba so incredibly much. Also from the same scene where Rafiki tells Simba to “Look harder” into the lake. Reflecting on one’s self is so important, otherwise we don’t know how to grow.
I totally agree. We love to say “Hakuna matata” sometimes and not worry about it, but learning from your past and your mistakes is so important, even if it’s a much harder thing to do.
Amen. If it was not for the past and the mistakes we made there, we would not be the people we are today. I’m on the approach to 32, and if you had have asked me 10 years ago where I would be today, it would not be here. That’s not because I’m not in a good place, I’m in the best place I’ve ever been, it’s because my mistakes at 22 through to 25 had not yet been lived. It made me a stronger person, it made me a better person, and although I had a lot to learn in the last 10 years, I am the happiest I have ever been.
Oh, I’ve been there too many times, too. I hope you’re feeling better this week! I have to admit, I love many of these quotes, and I’ve welled up watching them in the movies! I still can’t make it through Mulan and Brave without bawling because I’m just so darn happy about those movie heroines. 🙂
Thank you <3 I agree with you, I'm a total sucker for these Disney movies with the powerful female heroines. Hercules is another one that gets me because I feel like Megara is just such a strong character too.
