As a travel agent specializing in Disney, I love to help clients plan and book their Disney trips. Perhaps the best part is that my services are free of charge to the client – I’m not being paid by them, I’m being paid in commission by Disney. So I can actually help people without them having to pay for it! If you’re familiar with Disney, it’s probably obvious why a newcomer or less frequent visitor might want to use a travel agent. Planning the dining reservations, which resort, and just the sheer number of attractions to hit can be totally overwhelming.
But if you’re a frequent Disney visitor, you probably think you don’t need one. Why bother to go through a travel agent if you can do it yourself? I have a lot of friends who ask me, why would I need a travel agent? Even if you’re a Disney expert there are still some good reasons to hire a travel agent! (And if you’re already on board, email me at [email protected] today!)
Discounts automatically applied
If you have an existing reservation and Disney chooses to offer a discount that you qualify for, you can add it your existing reservation and get the money back! Which is a great thing, but there’s usually only a limited number of deals available, so the early bird gets the worm. As travel agents we are up at 4am on discount release days to insure that any qualifying clients will save money. I have a feeling that’s something you don’t want to be doing, so why not sleep in and be greeted with an extra $100 or more saved while you slept?
You don’t have to spend your time making changes
Being a travel agent certainly isn’t all sunshine and roses, and one of the things that is frustrating is being on hold on the phone. But that’s my job – so if a client wants to make a change to their reservation, whether it’s to request a specific room type, add a traveler, add the dining plan, etc., I’ll be on the phone, usually on hold for a bit, for you! So save your time – if you want to change something on your reservation just shoot me an email with what you want. It will take you only a few minutes, which will probably save you a lot of time in the long run.
I’m super passionate and up to date on everything going on
If you follow my blog you know that I absolutely adore Disney. I’m not a travel agent who just books everything without really knowing about the destination. I’m in Disney 3-4 times a year and I am reading news and other information literally every day. Disney is my life, so if you want an extra opinion or to stay up to date, I’m probably a good source for that.
Extra perks/gifts
We don’t usually outright advertise this because because it’s more of a “thank you” for booking with us, but many times my agency will offer extra perks or gifts when you do your trip through us! Families with kids get a fun gift in the mail, and travelers spending over a certain amount get some extra goodies. If you’re taking a Disney Cruise I also offer on board credit that can be spent on drinks, excursions, or any other sort of extras you might buy on board. If you’re going anyway why not book through me and get yourself a little something extra?
It allows me to do what I do
This is when I’m going to get a little real with you all. I absolutely love Disney, and I love writing this blog. But blogging and being a travel agent is not cheap in either the tangible or the intangible. I invest so much into my writing, and that includes web hosting fees, social media tools, advertising, etc., that all costs a non-trivial amount of money. I do not make enough to live off of being a travel agent and blogger (not even CLOSE!). I’m also a full time librarian, which is another amazingly fulfilling job which absolutely does not pay a high amount either. The extra money I make from being a TA and a blogger basically goes right back to Disney through my vacations and allows me to write and experience things so that I can share that knowledge with my readers and clients. So if you’re a friend (whether in real life or through the internet) and you appreciate what I do, I ask that you at least think about booking your next trip through me.
