With my trip to Disney I fell a little behind on my training. I was hoping to get in at least two runs while I was there but I only did one. I did of course do plenty of walking around the parks – my fitbit says over 10,000 steps every day, and most days it was closer to 20,000!
So I got in the runs for week 8 now, and I’m just going to skip week 9 since it’s a typical 2 short runs and 1 4 mile run. With the good weather we’re supposed to be having the next week hopefully it’s easier to get out there!
While at Disney I did one run around the Art of Animation and Pop Century resorts. It was so much fun to run around Disney and see all of the things there – it was a good distraction! Plus it was about 80 degrees. That’s a little on the warmer side for a comfortable run but I’ll take that any day over the 30 degrees we’ll be having here!
Monday the 14th I was back home but we were blessed with 65 degree weather, so I had to run! Got a solid three miles in after work.
This week is the first week that has 4 runs instead of 3, to get you used to doing a back to back run for the Glass Slipper Challenge (though I didn’t actually end up doing them back to back). They start you off easy with a 1 mile run, so I decided to use it to see how fast I could push myself to do 1 mile. I ended up with a 9:21 pace, but I definitely think I could do better than that when the weather is warmer and the cold isn’t shocking my lungs.
Finally today I did my longer 7 mile run. The first two miles were cold and miserable, but once my body adjusted I felt pretty good. Definitely one of my better feeling runs, if not my greatest pace (but not a disappointing one either!). It does make me dread the start of winter though.
Are you able to keep up with exercising during the holiday season?
Your doing awesome!! I used to be able to run 1 mile under 8 minutes but I haven’t done that in so long
Oh, that’s amazing! I would love to be able to run a mile that quickly. Maybe someday!
You are my inspiration my dear! I have my fitbit and a few running accessories. I plan on getting some shoes based on some of your past blogs during the Christmas break. I can’t wait!
Aww, thank you! A good pair of running shoes can make all the difference – and provide a little extra motivation to get out there!
