Glass Slipper Challenge training – Week 2

This weekend was Halloween, but I still managed to get out for a run!  I went out about 4:30, before we really got any trick or treaters and with plenty of time to still get ready for our Halloween party.  My husband and I dressed up as Rapunzel and Flynn Rider!  I was pretty happy with how our costumes turned out.  And this gets me thinking and planning for my costume for the Princess half marathon – I’m pretty sure I’m going to be Rapunzel!
week 2

Things haven’t gotten too difficult yet with the run training – in fact, it felt like a great week!  The weather was good, and I felt good.  My times were better than I could have hoped for.  I’m still dreading when it gets extremely cold out, but at least that hasn’t happened yet.

week 2 sun

On Sunday morning I went for one of the short runs.  I went in the afternoon before dinner, and I was just totally in the zone.  I kept a pace of 10:20 min/mile, which is one of my best non-race paces!  I’ll take it 😉

week 2 thurs

My second shorter run wasn’t until Thursday due to my schedule and the rain on Wednesday.  It also went very well too, though not quite as good as Sunday.  It was a little cooler this day and my ears were starting to get cold.  I hate that feeling!

week 2 sat

On Saturday I went for my longer run, for 4 miles.  It was a little chilly but I covered my ears this time and felt much better!  It was Halloween so I was just starting to see some little ones out trick-or-treating and I was running, and it was a cute distraction!

Did you dress up for Halloween?  What costumes did you or your children have this year?

You and the husband look adorable! I love how detailed you two got with your costume. I actually saw a rendition of Rapunzel somewhere over the internet where the baby was rapunzel and a dad strapped her in a baby carrier while he was the tower. It was hilarious!

This is my first time truly following along your race recaps, and I am so excited to see the journey it takes you on. I’ve always had my eye on training but I wimp out because I get scared I won’t be able to stay focused on running for so long! Maybe I will bite the bullet soon!

For Halloween, I was Princess Anna from Frozen! 🙂

Aww thank you! I actually saw a picture on Pinterest with a couple who was Rapunzel and Flynn, and then they had their baby dressed up as Pascal – it was super cute!

I know it can be really difficult to stay focused on running and training, so that’s one of the reasons why chronicling it on my blog is so helpful! It keeps me accountable and it’s nice to get a little bit of encouragement 🙂

I would love to see your Anna costume!

I seriously LOVE your costumes! Tangled is one of my favorite movies. I always loved Rapunzel as a child, and wanted to grow my hair that long. Can’t wait to see your running costume too.

Thank you! I love Tangled a lot, and have always liked the Rapunzel story. I was surprised it took until 2010 for them to do a Disney movie of it but I’m glad they did! I actually took a storytelling class in grad school and for one of my papers I researched and wrote about all the different versions of the Rapunzel story – it was fascinating.

Thank you! I don’t have asthma but my allergies make breathing difficult sometimes – I bet you could still do running/walking!
