Farewell to the Osborne Spectacle of Dancing Lights

Osborne Spectacle of Dancing Lights - Disney in your Day

One of my absolute favorite things at Disney during the holidays is the Osborne Spectacle of Dancing Lights at Hollywood Studios.  Set in the Streets of America, it’s a stunning display of millions of Christmas lights.  Every five minutes or so they dance along with the music and it is just breathtaking.

Sadly, Disney has announced that this year is the last year that the Osborne Lights will be on display.  The area where they are located is set to be completely torn down and re-done for the Star Wars expansion, so there will be no place for them.  I’m very sad they’ll be gone, but so thankful I was able to get down to Disney World to see them one more time (in fact, I visited for two evenings on my trip!).

I’ve heard that so many people are trying to get out to see it that Hollywood Studios has been on the verge of closing the parking lot to capacity this past week – and that’s during what is generally considered an “off-time”!  I can only hope that they will come up with something else amazing to take the place of the lights in the future.

For now, if you can’t go see them yourself the best way is to just take a look at these photos I managed to get.  Enjoy!

Oh, that stinks. I remember seeing the lights every year when they were on display at their home in AR. I have never been to Disney so I didn’t get the opportunity to experience them there. I am hoping that they will find a new home just as they found Disney once they couldn’t display them at their home any longer.

It must’ve been really neat to see them in AR too. I really hope they end up somewhere else – hmm, maybe Universal should look into that! 😉

It is absolutely breathtaking in person. Photos can never fully capture how they look, it’s honestly one of the most amazing things I’ve seen. Really puts you in the Christmas spirit!

Wow this looks amazing! That’s a bummer that they will no longer be doing it, but at least you were able to see it a few times.

Wow! It looks amazing. That’s really too bad this will be the last year. Hopefully, they’ll come up with another place for something like this. My boys would love it.

My daughter was able to see the Osborne Spectacle of Dancing Lights this year. It’s so sad that it will no longer be part of the Disney experience. Thank you so much for capturing these lovely images and sharing them with us.

Dang, I’m bummed this is the last year they are doing it. I’d love to have the opportunity to see this in person. Hopefully, they’ll replace it with something equally as exciting!

Considering what I’ve heard about how many people are coming to the park to see it (they’ve closed the parking lot due to capacity and it’s not even peak time!), I think they have to come up with something just as good.

I never got to see them! I wish they would keep them at least a couple years more, but I understand why they aren’t.

Aww I’m so sorry you didn’t get to experience them! Sadly, they don’t really fit in with the Star Wars themeing.
