You know how they say sometimes things have to get worse before they can get better? I think that must be true for physical therapy, because in many ways I felt much more sore throughout this week than the previous couple of weeks. However, it was (mostly) the “good” kind of sore from stretching and using muscles that aren’t normally used too often. There was still a little of the “bad” pain, but it definitely seems to be less.
Monday’s physical therapy beat me up the most, but I still went for a short run on Tuesday. It was one of those days that kicks my butt. I work until 5 and then have play rehearsal at 7. Work and rehearsal are in the same town and home is not, so it never makes any sense to go home in between. But then I need to find a way to kill two hours, so I usually go to the gym. So I did my short run on the treadmill and it went okay, showered and raced off to rehearsal.
Thursday it was back to the gym. I was able to increase the speed a bit from Tuesday so I was happy with that. And I didn’t have rehearsal on Thursday, which meant I could treat myself to the massage bed after running! That felt great on my back.
Saturday was my “long” run of the week, though it was only 3 miles. I fully intended to run outside. My hope is to do my shorter runs in the gym and then suck it up and do my long run outside on the weekends, despite my hatred of the cold. But then on Saturday it was raining all day, so I just went to the gym instead. I don’t want to get myself too used to the comfort of the climate in the gym, because it’s never going to be like that during a race. So next week at least one run will definitely be outside!
How was your week? Did you get any running in?
