Before I get to my run training I just wanted to share that I got photos back from the Princess half marathon weekend this past February! Our amazing photographers, David and Vicki Arndt, took these – you might remember their work from our anniversary photo shoot! They are such great photos to help remember that fun weekend. I thought I might share a couple of them here!
In a non-running related note, this week marks 60 days til my trip starts, which means that I can start booking dining reservations at Disneyland! We have a couple of places we are going to make sure to get reservations at, and a couple of days that we’ll just see where our moods take us. Planning a nice dinner for our anniversary, and Naples for some Italian the night before the race!
On to the training. It was a relatively light week in terms of mileage and I felt pretty good throughout!
Monday was a half hour run that I did early enough that it wasn’t too hot yet, and I was pretty happy with my time. I had read another blog that mentioned when you do run/walk intervals, the ideal amount of time spent walking is 30 seconds, so I attempted to do 30/30 intervals today instead of taking longer walk breaks just when I feel like it. Unfortunately I don’t think this is the best method for me. I felt good the first 15 minutes, but I got a lot slower and more worn out after that. I have a lot of allergies and congestion (yeah, I have to get back to the doctor to find a better medication to get that under control), so I feel like I need the longer walk breaks to catch my breath a little bit better.
Wednesday was an evening run with a slightly better time than on Monday, back to my old habits of walking when I feel like I need to walk. For now, that’s what is best for me.
Friday was my longer run but it was still only 4 miles. However, due to the holiday weekend and staying up too late the night before, I got a late start and the heat was definitely getting to me so I took it slower. Still not a terrible run, and I got it done!
