I was pretty excited for a 7 night cruise because it meant being able to relax and enjoy time on the ship! It didn’t really mean sleeping in for me because I wasn’t super adjusted to the time difference. I’m not a morning person normally at home so it was kind of nice having time in the morning before the day really started. I went out for a run at about 7:30 and did around 4 miles. Deck 4 has a jogging track and one loop around the ship is about ⅓ of a mile, so I could keep track that way. Although there was definitely a chill it was a really pleasant run. I stopped in the Cove Bar after running for a coconut caramel latte.
Then it was time to get ready for our brunch at Palo! This day was September 3rd, our anniversary. We wanted to do a meal at Palo and had enjoyed brunch so much last time we did it again. The buffet is incredible just like last time. The highlights there for me are the crab legs and the different cheeses.
I also had a tomato soup and a pasta dish I’ve been thinking of for 2 years. If you like smoked salmon this really is so so good. The sauce is delicious. Even though we had a bunch of buffet choices for dessert, they also brought us a chocolate lava cake.
After digesting our food a little it was time to do Jason’s favorite activity – the Rainforest Room! I enjoyed sitting on the heated lounge chairs and reading my book. We also went to the hot tub for a bit after that, and just spent some time in the room on the balcony. Once we were done with a relaxing afternoon we got ready for the show that night – the Golden Mickeys!
It was formal night so we got dressed up to attend the show. I really enjoy this one. It’s a bunch of different scenes and songs from various Disney movies, so it’s a nice collection of favorites. We also each enjoyed the drink of the day during the show!
After the show we went to the welcome reception in the atrium, where they had some characters out and were also passing out free drinks. We also happened to bump into our friends Nicola and Andrew here, who were on the cruise as well! Nicola and I were able to get a picture together with Minnie Mouse in her formal outfit, and then I got a picture with Mickey in his formalwear (Jason is really not a big fan of character pictures).
Our dinner that night was in Tiana’s Place. Princess and the Frog is one of my two favorite Disney movies so I absolutely fell in love with this restaurant. In addition to the themeing being fun and them having touches of the movie on the plates and whatnot, there was also stuff going on! Tiana was hosting and came around to greet us at the tables. There was a jazz band that played a mix of classic jazz songs and jazz versions of Disney songs – people got up and danced it was just a ton of fun.
The food was very tasty too, given the fact that the menu has good Louisiana style cooking! The highlight was probably the Louisiana crab dip appetizer. The cocktails were tasty too, and the Bayou Moon even came with a mardi gras bracelet. They also brought us a special slice of cake that night since we were celebrating our anniversary!
Once again we were just too tired to do anything other than go back to the stateroom and put on a Disney movie before falling asleep pretty quickly. But it had been a truly lovely, relaxing day.

So when you’re at sea for this cruise, do you still have a view of land?
Happy anniversary! The food especially looked amazing on your trip!
