Dining at Trattoria al Forno

July 23, 2015 by Becky 7 Comments

Dining Review

Having opened in late 2014, Trattoria al Forno is one of the newest restaurants at the Walt Disney World resort.  It is located at the Boardwalk (where the Greek restaurant Kouzzina used to be) and is within walking distance of Epcot’s World Showcase.  They feature Italian food.

We arrived at Trattoria al Forno the night before the Princess Half Marathon, prepared to carb up on bread and pasta.  We ate here with a large group, and were lucky to get a server named Hollie who was super friendly and accommodating.  She did a great job even with a couple of food allergies in the group of 12, and kept our drinks filled and bread on the table.

The bread and olive oil was a delicious start to the meal.  Nice crispy bread, and I prefer oil to butter personally.  A friend ordered the calamari (with White Balsamic and Lemon Agrodolce) as an appetizer but didn’t want to eat it all herself, so she shared with us.  I’m iffy on calamari, but I think this is the best that I’ve had.  It had a great flavor and sauce with it.

For my meal I ordered the pesto dish.  I love pesto and this was very good.  I got it with chicken for a little extra protein, and there was a generous helping of chicken on top here. The flavor of the pesto was great, and the chicken was moist and juicy.  I was very happy with this choice.

My husband ordered the Braised Beef “Bolognese” – with House-made Cavatelli.  He described it as “forgettable.”  To be fair, he is not usually a fan of the braised beef style, so it was an odd choice for him. He said it was fine but not his favorite. I think he probably would have been happier with something else, but he was in the mood for beef.

While I liked my meal here, I will say that I was super sad to see Kouzzina go.  It was something different and more unique, and we really enjoyed our food there.  Despite how much we enjoyed Trattoria al Forno, I still wish Kouzzina was still there.  That being said, considering that I need some good pasta before the Disney races I will probably be back here!

That bread looks wonderful! I love learning about Disney World restaurants — there are so many more than there are at Disneyland. Trattoria al Forno looks like it’s similar to Wine Country Trattoria in California Adventure. Great photos, thanks for sharing your tips!

There are a ton of Disney World restaurants – I’m looking forward to checking out some of the Disneyland ones when I go there next month for the first time!
