It was always a dream of mine to be able to visit Disney during their Christmas season, so I was thrilled when I got the opportunity to go this year from December 11-16! The Christmas festivities were in full swing, but it wasn’t quite so crowded yet so we were still able to do a lot of the rides and other things we wanted to do. We didn’t get to do everything – there are still some things I didn’t do that will have to be saved for another Christmas season trip (Candlelight Processional, and seeing the gingerbread houses at the Grand Floridian). Here are some of the highlights from our visit this Christmas:
Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party
Main Street is decorated very nicely even during the day, but it’s at night when you’ll see the best parts. It “snows” on Main Street, but the highlight is the gorgeous icicle laden castle. Simply stunning, especially during Holiday Wishes. During the holiday party you also get free hot cocoa and cookies, a number of shows and dance parties, unique charater meet and greets, and a special holiday parade.
Characters in Christmas attire
Everyone’s getting into the spirit with some form of Christmas décor to the their outfits this year. Duffy was rocking a santa suit, and Chip and Dale were getting into it with their winter scarves as well.
Every park has its own large Christmas tree. Epcot’s is decorated with items representing the countries from the World Showcase, and the Animal Kingdom tree has animal and African inspired ornaments. They were all very large, and beautiful.
Candlelight Processional
Even though we didn’t get the chance to actually sit down and see the show, we did walk by while they were performing and caught a glimpse, as well as they very tail end. Definitely something I’d like to do in the future. The singing was beautiful and really got you into the mood for the holiday season.
The Osborne Spectacle of Dancing Lights
For me, this was by far the best part of Christmas at Disney. The lights were simply stunning. I’d seen pictures, but nothing could really compare to seeing them, especially when they danced in synchronization to the Christmas music playing. It was truly a magical Disney moment.
Have you been to Disney during Christmas? What’s your favorite part?
Where is the Candlelight Processional performed??
