Bucket List: Draw 5 different characters at the Animation Academy

January 26, 2015 by Becky 5 Comments

When I discovered the Magic of Disney Animation at Hollywood Studios, I fell in love with it.  When they closed it to replace it with Star Wars I was pretty bummed.  The good news is that it still exists in Disneyland (California Adventure) and Disneyland Paris!  If you’re not familiar, you can go back there and they have drawing classes about every 25 minutes.  An artist will guide you step by step through how to draw your own Disney character.  I’m not much of an artist myself, but with their guidance my drawings come out pretty good!  It’s a fun experience and it also provides you with a free souvenir that you made yourself!

There are apparently almost 50 different characters available to draw.  The one that you get is dependent upon what the artist feels like doing.  A lot of times they will ask the crowd which ones they’ve done already, to try and get as many new ones as possible.  There’s definitely a chance you will duplicate, but I’m aiming for as many different ones as I can!  I usually get in one drawing per trip.  It was a bucket list item to draw 5 different characters.  And I’ve actually done 10. Now that I’ve achieved it, I’m aiming for 15 – but it will take longer since I have to wait for my Disneyland trips now!

Here’s a look at who I got to draw:

Animation Academy - Disney in your Day
Daisy Duck – September 2011
Animation Academy - Disney in your Day
Dale, from February 2013
Animation Academy - Disney in your Day
Rapunzel, done in April 2013. This is the most difficult one I’ve drawn so far.
Animation Academy - Disney in your Day
Donald Duck – July 2013
Animation Academy - Disney in your Day
Eeyore – December 2013
Olaf – February 2014
Animation Academy - Disney in your Day
Winnie the Pooh, February 2015
Animation Academy - Disney in your Day
Goofy, April 2015
Animation Academy - Disney in your Day
Stitch, September 2016
Animation Academy - Disney in your Day
Steamboat Willie, July 2017

Hi, I'm Becky!

I'm a huge Disney fan in my early 30's and always trying to find a way to put a little bit of Disney into everyday life.
