This week is the opening weekend for the production of Beauty and the Beast that I’m involved in, so in honor of that I’ve decided I’m going to try and share lots of Beauty and the Beast related posts this week! It is one of my favorite movies after all, and I know lots of other people are big fans. There’s plenty to say and talk about when it comes to Beauty and the Beast, but I thought I’d start with a style post and share a Belle Disney Bound that I put together!
If you’re not familiar, Disney Bounding is a fun way to show a little of your Disney passion without being over the top obvious about it. Basically, Disney Bounding is when you dress in the color of style of a certain character, but you use your every day clothes instead of a costume. I’ve done a number of Disney Bounds you can take a look at:
Belle is a fun option for a Disney Bound because it’s relatively simple, and there are so many different directions you could take it. Belle has a number of different outfits in the movie, so you can decide if you want to do her provincial “town” outfit or the classic yellow dress. She’s also got the lovely winter outfit that you could do a fun Disney Bound with!
I chose her town outfit because it worked better with what I had in my closet at the time. Since I love Belle though I’m sure I will attempt some of her other outfits in the future! The biggest component of this Belle Disney Bound is a simple blue dress. I actually got mine on Amazon, and it’s basic enough that it was affordable but still perfect for this.
Of course her outfit has accents of white as well. I wasn’t sure how it would look to put a white t-shirt under a dress, but the look actually seemed to work better than I expected. I think having a v-neck or scoop neck white shirt would work better with a dress like this. If I was wearing this outfit in cooler weather I would use a white cardigan on top, but it’s been close to 100 degrees here lately!
While you could certainly add an apron to complete the outfit, I prefer my Disney Bounds to be a little more subtle, and an apron is not something I would wear anywhere except the kitchen! So to add a little bit more white to the ensemble I added a white belt. That was actually Jason’s idea, I think he was proud of that because it did help pull the look together!
The little accents help to make it feel more “Belle” as well. For shoes I would go with black flats. Which surprisingly, I do not own right now because my last pair fell apart and I haven’t replaced them yet! I have a rose pin that my mom gave me in high school for one of the shows I performed in – instead of actual flowers, she got me this flower pin. I’ve kept it since then and it works so well for Belle. You could also do roses as an accent with earrings, a necklace, etc.
The last two little details are two of my favorites. I got a Belle style hair bow off of Etsy, because that’s pretty iconic to her look. And finally, my favorite purse that I own! This Danielle Nicole purse came out last year and my lovely husband got it for me as a birthday gift. It says Beauty and the Beast on it, and is shaped like a book – perfect for Belle, the book lover!
How do you like my Belle Disney Bound? Which of Belle’s outfits is your favorite?
